Interesting dash combo on the Curated car. We’ve seen this done before, but it is pretty rare. Looks off when doors are closed imo.
Either the previous owner really wanted a 98 355 or he actually thought his car was a MY98. He has 5.2 manifolds installed. No 2.7 Y-pipe. He also has 5.2 exhaust shield. Center air vent is also 5.2 version. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all . @ShineKen what are the tippers that this is a '95? I'm guessing you have the VIN # (numerically). The obvious quick reference for me was intake. But could it have been an engine swap at some point? Genuinely curious.
50K is nothing. This community needs to stop mileage shaming or it will destroy the entire market for all 355s. If they become valueless when driven, what's the point of owning one?
I'm a big fan of the spider as I own one but no way I'm paying $100k for 50k mile car when I can but a 11k mile car for $100k. Bottom line is that the owner let it go for $70k. Realistic expectations. They are still just used cars IMO. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-ferrari-f355-spider-72/
I mean.... Why would you bother with the 11k mile car? Current condition matters more than mileage when they're 30 years old, so I don't know why you'd pay any premium for low miles. Jmo, the 11k mile car will probably have more problems.
VIN is all you really need, but intakes, paint code, Agip badge, no compartment behind seats, thick rear rubber trim under engine lid, etc.. It’s a 95 for sure.
Spider was sold way too cheap and probably had underlying issues? Who knows. Stupid. But I have a car that sold on BaT for $210k in Sept of 2022, I will take $180k for it with new tires and factory wheels. Has miles on it but only 3k or less more than 9/22. The buyer at $210k paid the fee and then spent over $30k on it….sooooooo, he went backwards. 1999 TDF/Creme Gated GTS 63k miles. Will be at Ferrari dealer Monday for a service (LOF), CV boot and misc. Engine out in 2021. More than likely be on real market. In spring of 2025, but referencing here.
My just hit 40K miles 1997 Spider runs super solid, gonna need an engine out within the next 2 years. But I've spent way more in maintenance on my 07 430... So... 355 just made a trip from South East Michigan to Road America in Wisconsin. Did 2 Casual Track Days & ran the old Road Coarse not so Casually. So I'd agree not driving them is setting up for more problems. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
@ShineKen : Ok, newbie question... What's the diffence between 2.7 and 5.2 center airvent? And what about the intake manifold? They look the same as on my 2.7 ...
Nice! I enjoy driving the 355 spider stick much more than the CS, which seems crazy until you do both a lot.
2.7 cars do not have red light in between vents - no immobilizer. 1994 and 1995 are 2.7 dual MAF cars and maybe a handful of 1996.
Yes, i know, but I'm referencing to the comments of @ShineKen to the car for sale a little above (the car for sale at Curated ). It has dual MAF and I don't see a red light in between the vents, that's why I was wondering what was meant ...
There is no red light, but there is a circle for where the red light would be. A 2.7 car, there is no circle imprint, which implies he replaced it with a 5.2 version. Manifolds are definitely 5.2 version. Post pics of a 2.7 and 5.2 manifold.
So wait a 2.7 car that center vent has no indent in that area. My 95 has that little bullseye basically on the vent but it's not drilled out for the light on a 96 and up. We sure it was smooth on every 2.7 car. No little circle indentation on the cent vent?
