Here’s a couple more shots of 5261 GT, as seen the morning after the FCA national concours. Was a treat to come across by itself on the street, covered in morning dew. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I already started a separate thread for this without much luck and I'm hoping I might get some more traction here in this thread. Long story short, I just bought a 275 shortnose that had its original engine removed in the 60's and was refitted with a four cam. I'm trying to track down the original engine and as of 2013, it was in Lusso #5471. I have been able to determine that the car was bought by Don Williams at an RM auction in 2013, but Don's estate doesn't have any record of ownership, so it was presumably bought for a friend. That is unfortunately where the trail goes cold as of now, so I was hoping someone here may have an idea of where this car is currently. I know this is a photo thread, so here it is in 2013 when it was up for auction. Image Unavailable, Please Login
4053 GT was a Lusso prototype. I'm under the impression it was a Scaglietti prototype but I can't say definitively. (I'm no Lusso expert, just a monkey who can cut and paste and occasionally read.)
There were three prototypes this was one of them. There are several small differences between it and the production cars. When the car came to me from a defunct shop in the Bay area the shop owner had sold off several parts to support his Cocaine habit. Locating them and purchasing them was a struggle. The owner at the time had to pay for parts which had been stolen from him, it was a bad situation all around but there was a happy ending.
Had a room mate in High School in California, a Dr. Hewitt, that had a Lusso, anyone know more? Regards, Alberto
