Too bad those Weslake engines were so unreliable. I read that they were all virtually handmade and parts weren't necessarily interchangeable between them! The design apparently shared some features with the BRM V-12 that first appeared in late 1967 and didn't exactly have a glorious career itself.
Audrey Woods, who designed the V12 Weslake commissioned by Gurney, previously worked on the V12 BRM. The V12 BRM, the V12 Weslake and the V12 Matra had some common DNA.
