1700 kg curb is more credibile I got your point, it is not the car that makes you dream, but looking at competitors in same range, they just needed to adapt to the heavy, powerful, aero car. If Ferrari stays in a niche producing only models like Roma and 12C, it will end up like the old elegant but obsolete Aston Martin, which also radically changed its philosophy to survive modern competition.
For me the fundamental problem in today's world may in fact be the v6, yes Ferrari will say its a Le Mans engine etc. and has shared parts with F1 and WEC but again does the average customer of the F250 really buy the car for those reasons? The counter argument is I am not sure anyone complained in 1987 that the F40 had a derivative of the 308 engine! My view is none of these cars is slow this sector needs to find ways to "wow" that do not primarily rely on outright performance.
I agree, but it was just enough to develop a new V12 hybrid that could have been used on other models. Certainly less power, but much more soul and character... When Vigna arrived, he said that he" didn't want to be the one to release a new V12 car in 2025 "...the reality of the demand for the 12 C and the PS should mean that you have to have culture in connection with the history of the company you are coming to, and don't magically think that we're going to sweep everything away with a hand revert... After that, to be able to move in the right direction, customers have to think a little and stop wanting 1200 hp which is useless on the open road. Murray's clentele understood this well and bought an experience and the emotions that go with it.
If the car had a brand new 4 litre V12, people will still find a reason to complain. The reality of the digital car space today is you cannot please everyone.
I think people would complain, there would be some who would say theres no direct link to the racing of today.
have you seen an official communication about the 1700kg? if so please share as I wasnt told any official figure. the development took 5 years and this car is a demonstration of what Ferrari is technological capable of, it is not a "beautiful" car, it is a technological masterpiece, the best of what Ferrari can offer today in terms of performance, engineering and production know how.. the state of the art V6TT, Le Mans and F1 technology. Yes I do love the V12 too and for me one of the most beautiful cars is the SP3 but from a technological point of view its an "old" car. the best Garage contains both
Right. Eleven years ago, LaFe was clamied as heavy as the Enzo (I remember a "delta-weight = 0") . In real life, it's about 100 kgs heavier...
Don't expect any leaks whatsoever until the 17th, as we can recall recently with the 12 Cilindri nothing was leaked before the official unveiling. On a separate note this is the most exciting I've been for a Ferrari reveal since the 812 Competizione
In other words its a car like the F50 in concept rather than the F40? F50 being billed as a car that can give an F1 like experience.
At least Mercedes has made the effort to put an F1 engine.... I am willing to try to persuade ourselves by making marketing links, but the reality is that it is basically a 296 engine and not the one you find in Leclerc's car... I am still amazed that everything Ferrari does sucks "permanent admiration"... The badge makes many people lose their minds, and they have understood it. Technologically and emotionally, it is more expensive than a Valkyrie and very far from the emotion it provides (I think we can reasonably admit that the respective engines are like apples and oranges...). The practical aspect is not an argument, 90% of the F250s will not even do 500 kilometers per year... That being said, I respect your point of view.
Wrong, the F 50 is built around an F1 engine based on the 641 Fomula 1, and F250 is based on a 296 engine.
Not everyone is as enamoured by what Murray is doing. The engine is mostly Cosworth’s work, and the design of the car is reminiscent of a Toyota MR2. As I said they will always be something to complain about.
The W1 achieves it at 280 kph. I believe the extended rear wing's key function is to improve the effectiveness of the underbody diffuser.
Well, Vigna is definitely not Luca...for the good and the bad, to each his own judgement Educating customers is very difficult, nowaday, in social hysteria vanity age, even more so. I'll surely miss the V12 screaming hyperuranius sound of FXX and FXXK, and don't think we'll see again beautiful car as those, but in a world of Tesla and BYD, it's already something to have the 250 with hybrid V6 reaching the pinnacle of technology. Anyway, I'm going to world finals at Imola this year to mend my petrolhead soul with some good old f1 and XX cars so till we can join these events, there's still something to be happy for even in today's automotive messy world
I am referring to the possible concept an link to the Le Mans car which itself used a variant of the 296 engine. I agree with your sentiment completely, I'm just trying to look at it from a different point of view.
Thank you, very interesting info, both cars will be tech wonders, and I'm sure both will have XX / GTR versions even crazier. The extendable wing is working in cleaner airflow and definitively increase diffuser efficiency as well, it is said that, in F1 mode, the W1 multiplies the downforce by 5, which is unbelievable, but I think that's compared to low drag street mode, not to high drag street mode. I'm not judging the technical choice, just don't like too much that naked metal arm, though it's clearly designed for strength and lightweight, not for beauty. In any case, the aero improvement of this generation is relevant, I think AMG one and Valkyrie pushed the bar high, so competition was beneficial.
Here I agree, it would seem there does not appear to be the appetite to further develop the v12 hence the derivative in the 12C which is very similar to what was in the 812C. For me it would have made sense to develop for the halo model and then develop from that to the production volume cars, much like the Enzo V12 which went into the 599.
The W1 will be undrivable in race mode on public streets so the extended wing should be a rare sight (in motion). I expect the same to hold true with the F250. The W1 and F250 have different technical briefs - this will become evident when the F250 is revealed.
