The ”return of the planet of the apes”. awful.
two thumbs down. first 3/4 of movie is ape on ape violence. no real plot. stupid ending.
no humans involved in story til last ten minutes.
    amateurish film making.

    Ferrari: good but not great
Downfall: excellent take on Hitler's last days. German with subtitles
Requiem for a Dream: watered down version of Hubert Selby's gut-wrenching story of terminal drug addiction
Where Eagles Dare: Good old-fashioned 60s WWII classic

    I just watched a movie I hadn't seen since I was a kid:

    Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

And to be honest, this is really a pretty darn good movie. The songs are great, the characters are interesting an not cookie cutter, and its full of action or dance sequences and fun photography. The opening title sequences of early Grand Prix racing is a great reinaction. And Dick Van Dyke does some great dance routines.

Its not perfect as the child actors are probably the weakest. And their British accent makes them difficult to understand. I'm sure this movie was hammered in the press for being a Disney knock off from the man who made James Bonds movies. How dare he take on Walt!

A couple from Netflix this weekend:

The Highwaymen -- a telling of the Bonnie and Clyde rampage from the law enforcement end. Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson put on fine performances.

The Good Nurse -- a docudrama about a serial killer nurse that was allowed to move from hospital to hospital. Very solid film, good acting and an interesting story. If you want to learn more about the story, https://people.com/crime/the-good-nurse-true-story/ is a good primer. Lots of spoilers for the movie, though.

Kirk Douglas and James Coburn. Recommended if you’re a fan.

    A relaxing movie.

Fall Guy movie review: if you are a fan of the original series, there's a lot to like in this movie. The lead actors are charming, the plot is a bit contrived but fun, LOTS of stunts (of course), and the background actors are clearly having a ball. A good escapist summer flick, well worth a matinee ticket.

New version of the theme song too. Blake Shelton is no Lee Majors, but it's pretty good

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

The last installment in a franchise that has become a shadow of what it was. The last 30 minutes were fun.

Well, it wasn't as great as the first and third movie but still better than the Temple of Doom and the Crystal Skull.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is one of the best movies of all time in my book.

Watching The Batman again. I started watching the new series The Penguin and apparently the timeline is a year after what happened in the movie so I needed a refresher,

Pretty good overall, fantastic photography and good story. End is contrived and thus a bit of a let down, but overall pretty decent. Anybody who liked the HBO series "The young pope" will love this.

Gripping inside story of the ABC news reporters during the Munich Olympics hostage situation. Another hit by "Constantin Film", these guys are good.

What a waste of time and money. Absolutely nothing new. Could be the first movie entirely directed and written by GPT if i had to guess as it was so flavorless.

Agreed, though it should be called 'Sofia'

As good as Colin Farrell is (and he' s GOOD), you can't take your eyes off of Cristin Milioti's riveting performance
