He's connected and Im certain has fans in the team. He knows more than enough people to have a valid opinion. Him giving Horner grief is more than entertaining!

Red Bull Racing saw revenue boost in 2023 but meager profit
    https://f1i.com/news/520844-red-bull-racing-saw-revenue-boost-in-2023-but-meager-profit.html

Red Bull Racing has unveiled its financial report for the 2023 season, a year marked by unprecedented sporting success and a complex financial landscape.

Despite dominating the Formula 1 world championship with a record 21 victories and securing their sixth Constructors' title, the team's bottom line experienced a downturn.

Red Bull Racing's 2023 revenue reached £307,472 million ($402 million), up from £278,026 million in 2022, marking a 10.6% rise, a boost attributed to increased sponsorship, promotions, prize money, and contributions toward the race program.

The team's dominant on-track performances significantly boosted its commercial appeal, drawing in new partners and strengthening existing relationships. In 2023 alone, Red Bull secured seven new partnerships, five of which were in the United States—an increasingly vital market for Formula 1, especially with the addition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Long-term partnerships have also been a cornerstone of the team's financial stability, with four key contracts renewed, two of which extend for more than four years. These renewals emphasize the trust and commitment of sponsors who continue to align themselves with Red Bull’s sustained success.

However, despite its impressive revenue growth, Red Bull Racing's after-tax profit for 2023 fell by 37%, dropping from £2.057 million ($2,7 million) in 2022 to £1.296 million.

This rise in costs is largely attributed to performance-based rewards tied to the team's unparalleled achievements on the track.
Interestingly, Red Bull’s report mentions a £7 million retainer paid to its “highest paid director” – namely team principal Christian Horner.

Red Bull Racing’s financial results should be interpreted with caution due to its intricate relationships with affiliated entities like Red Bull Technology and Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

These companies contribute to the team's Formula 1 operations, leading to some costs and revenue being allocated to them rather than directly to Red Bull Racing.

For example, Red Bull Technology, the company responsible for designing, developing, and manufacturing the championship-winning Red Bull Racing F1 cars, reported revenues of £446.2 million ($584 million) in 2023, which generated a profit of 11,027 million ($14,44 million).

This represents an increase of AUD $117.05 million compared to 2022 and resulted in a calendar year profit of AUD $21.33 million.

Nevertheless, Red Bull Racing remained committed to investing in its technological edge, allocating nearly double the amount - €30.31 million – to research and development in 2023 compared to the previous year.

In an era of financial constraints for F1 teams, Red Bull Racing has adhered to the FIA’s budget cap regulations, with management carefully monitoring costs to ensure compliance.

A team’s compliance is crucial to avoiding potential sanctions, which could impact their on-track performance.

While Red Bull Racing continues to enjoy solid revenue growth and expanding commercial partnerships, particularly in the American market, the profit decline points to cost pressures within Formula 1.

The rise of competitors like McLaren, who have overtaken Red Bull in the team standings, along with Ferrari’s consistency, might present financial challenges in the coming seasons.

Red Bull Racing’s 2023 financial report paints a picture of a team thriving on the back of sporting success but also grappling with the financial realities of competing at the pinnacle of motorsport.

As they look ahead, with Formula 1’s regulatory changes on the horizon, the team will need to carefully manage rising costs and external risks while continuing to capitalize on their unrivaled performances on the track.

There is an interview of Pierre Waché in this month's issue of the French "Sport Auto" magazine; he does not seem too much concerned with the current situation at Red Bull (including Newey's departure), but more about the still fuzzy regulations for 2026.
Whether it's his real feeling or just a PR exercice is difficult to tell though.

Certainly he is not the only 1 :) They have another year to sort it out. I hope they do and we have an improved formula and good racing.
RedBull are suffering with floor/wing and tire issues like all others to some degree. Only Mclaren are somewhat consistent lately. One small update and RedBull could be winning again and crush the Mclaren WDC dream. One more win and Max should secure it. His biggest other challenge is a engine penalty possibly.

Despite seeing off the threat of Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez shouldn’t get too comfortable as Helmut Marko says the only guarantee that he remains in the car is if he “performs accordingly”.

But finding his form is proving difficult for Perez this season.

Although he started the championship with four podiums in five races, China marked the last of his champagne celebrations before his current 13-race streak off the podium.

As the only driver from the top four teams without a win on the board, he’s P8 in the standings where he trails Max Verstappen by 187 points.

That’s cost Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship as they’re now second behind McLaren who have outscored them eight races in a row to march out to a 41-point lead.

Marko admits Perez’s for yo-yos and that’s hurting Red Bull today.

“Perez has fluctuations, we know that,” he told RTL/ntv and sport.de. “Especially when the car is modified at short notice, it takes him longer to adapt. That is certainly one factor why McLaren is currently stronger than us in terms of driver pairings.

“In terms of speed, he can do it. He just has fluctuations that are becoming more and more unpredictable.”

RB would never pay Hamilton the kind of money he wants; Hamilton would never risk a head-to-head comparison with Max driving the same car. He would lose.

If it were up to Helmut Marko alone, the driver sitting alongside Max Verstappen in next year’s RB21 would be “someone from our junior programme”.

The budget cap ensures no innovation or major risk taking now. Its Corporate fund hedging/risk aversion lol. Thanks F1.

--Red Bull is planning an evolution of its current RB20 car for 2025, believing that investing in a bold revamp is not worth it.

With the Milton Keynes-based squad locked in a tight championship fight with McLaren, it is mindful that, if it does not make solid gains this winter, it could risk an even more difficult campaign next year.

However, a combination of cost cap limits, plus the need to ramp up efforts for the new rules revolution coming in 2026 when Red Bull will run its own engine, has prompted it to step away from doing anything radical.--

"His last 2 years ..." ? Well, in 2023, Perez finished 2nd to Verstappen, in the WDC.

    You can't ask more from a #2 !

i believe Horner kept Perez because Max had “special equipment” that Perez didnt. that “special equipment” gave Max the edge. and Perez could have gone public if fired.

No hard evidence of that but a plausible hypothesis? Plus Checo brings many sponsorship dollars.

How far back vs Max in points, and how many times did he fail to make it to Q3 etc etc. Remember they didnt need Perez at all for the WCC lol. He is not a good #2 unless the car is more suitable to him. He has been so exposed this year again. Sorry Bottas out qualified LH 30% of the time. Lets look at that stat for Perez...........oh here it is LOL.

I dont see it LOL! Where did it go..................

It is not lost on Red Bull that its plight has not been helped by Perez failing to contribute as much as the team would have liked, with his 144 points tally so far this year well adrift of Max Verstappen’s 331.

Perez was given a stay of execution over his place in the squad following the summer break, with the team hopeful he could deliver more at venues he was better at. However, things have not been ideal, especially after he lost a potential podium finish in Baku following a late crash with Carlos Sainz.

With Liam Lawson slotted in as replacement for Daniel Ricciardo at RB to evaluate his potential in being a Red Bull candidate for 2025, it is clear that the team is evaluating the best way forward.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says the need to understand what options it has available has become critical, because the title fight will likely be even harder next year.

And, with the difference between the leading positions in the constructors’ championship being around $9 million – Red Bull needs no reminding that having a second driver who costs it one or two places is costly.

“We desperately need answers,” Horner told Autosport about its driver situation.

“I think when you look at our opponents, Ferrari will be strong next year, with [Lewis] Hamilton and [Charles] Leclerc. Plus McLaren with [Lando] Norris and [Oscar] Piastri is a strong line-up.

“We need to make sure that with both of our drivers, that there's not a big gap between them because you can't afford to have that.”

Lawson’s prospects for a potential move up to Red Bull, should he impress in the final races this year, have increased with rookie drivers in fashion once again in F1.

With Oliver Bearman and Franco Colapinto impressing so much, teams certainly seem more open-minded about putting youngsters in once again.
