The wheel is a goofy shape, but the return of buttons is much welcomed. The F8 has the best Ferrari wheel. They should bring that back more or less with the new button design that hopefully doesn't have sticky buttons

Looks like the climate controls are haptic though, strangely.

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” - Inigo Montoya.

Touch screens or buttons do not imply haptics. Haptics refers to interfaces that provide physical feedback to the user, such as videos game steering wheels that vibrate or kick out to the side when you hit a video curb. So unless your A/C controls are pushing back on you or burning or freezing your fingers as you set the temperature, we are not talking about haptics.

Lecture complete. Carry on. But hopefully with correct terminology.

    Touchscreen; one and the same.

and the initial post/description from Ferrari is referring to haptic replacement with physical buttons.

I thought Ferrari referred to the thumb pads as Haptic? in any case they are a failure in my opinion. Every time I've driven a new Ferrari - the screens are always changing in front of me.... its distracting.... I was taught to hold the wheels a 9 & 3... so your thumb is right there....

Allow me to correct your incorrect terminology then ;)

    1) The video game examples you present are examples of "force feedback" which is similar but different than haptic feedback. Haptic feedback is finer and focused on simulating a sense of touch or texture, while force is more heavy handed. "Rumble" and other controller vibration is force feedback, while touchscreens that click (like Force/3d/Haptic Touch on apple products) or the adaptive triggers on a PS5 controller that can change resistance on the fly (to simulate trigger weight or material differences) are haptic.

    2) Touch screens or buttons do not imply *lacking* haptics either. My RS6 has touchscreen infotainment and HVAC controls that have haptics that click to confirm engagement. I'd think it's a pretty safe bet the F80s will be similar.
