If you can get $86k for a 308 with a two dollar Walmart vinyl steering wheel cover I'm encouraged.

Dwesson, Welcome. Assume you've done all the obligatory web searches...also assuming that didn't scratch your itch. Subscribe to the Ferrari Market Letter, send them your VIN, and ask what info they may have. Mine's a Euro, so they didn't have any info before it came stateside, but they were able to provide some history going back 35 years (once it was in the US) including an apparent return trip to Europe before coming back to the US a second(!) time. Super-great people to work with, good luck.
Also, looks like you're in the PNW...so you've got a few neighbors that hang-out in the forum as well.

    Yep.

Know it very very well and so do many others here.

It was the first Ferrari I drove too 30 years ago. I have a ton of pics of it thru the years. Mike was a close friend

Thanks Dave for the welcome. I actually hadn't done a lot of research on this particular car before purchasing (story to be told over a coffee someday :)) other than from the listing it was apparent this was owned by someone that took great care of the vehicle and approached the changes they made with a very well thought out methodology.

I look forward to meeting up when the car is arrives and the weather shines on us!

Sorry to hear about Mike. Found his handle here and looks like he was a terrific contributor to the Ferrari Community.

Prices on these cars really are all over the place. It's a good car (color isn't to my taste, but opinions vary), but why did it pull $50K more than this car https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-ferrari-308-gtb-40/ or nearly $60k more than this car (which is a euro and, as an '84, has the advantage of being galvanized) https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-ferrari-308-gtb-quattrovalvole-3/?
