I watch the delivery of a SF90 that was missing from the back, and a Pista with a paint run down the passenger door . How these cars left Ferrari is disturbing. Or the car that had swirl marks that look like it was washed with sand paper Should not happen. I feel for you. If I ever see the correct Pista ill buy it, at least it wont be a lucky dip of car not seen.
Yes, the dealer was able to show me some precise diagnostics that an exhaust side camshaft and its actuators were off timing, and graphed out the variances. I've had a variety of opinions from my friends about this: of the Ferrari VIP customers, several said let them replace the engine and keep peace to maintain my customer status, a base 296 is not a limited car, a crate engine is as good as new and the value change will not be significant because it won't hit Carfax or other reporting systems. Others said get out of the car as politely as possible, as it's a bad omen on the build and anything further will just make everything worse (what if I get another system failure or CEL after taking it back). Of my non-Ferrari-owner friends, it was 100% saying don't put up with this, make FNA buy it back. An inconvenient quote in my situation: Image Unavailable, Please Login I think that everyone involved was gambling that fixing the engine and the enticement of driving it was going to bend my will. The three year wait and multiple configuration sessions and all of the anticipation I dealt with from October 2021 to now would soften my heart. That all of my emails and phone calls noting that I would not take the car if we did not have a deal in place before it was complete were bluffs. They weren't. I was being as direct with them as I could, and as docile as I could manage despite feeling total rage inside at times. Over an expensive toy. Something I don't need that costs as much as a nice house. I was commiserating with a friend who just lemoned his Corvette E-Ray convertible at 233 miles (hybrid system faults), and he noted too he was losing so much sleep, lost appetite, etc. for months over his broken toy too. That's why putting me off and waiting me out backfired, because I was so upset about it on a personal and emotional level that I really wanted a resolution to look forward to - an affirmation that my affiliation with Ferrari was in some way important - that I really felt desperate to have a plan in place for peace of mind. So much of my career is intense, adversarial stress that I was really needing relief. Only to find that on a personal level everyone was apparently more concerned with covering their own ass and trying to avoid financial obligations. And then I would log in here to Ferrarichat, one of my habits for 22 years now, and get triggered. Ferrari will not discount the GTS. I didn't even bother asking for that among all of my proposals. That's not how they function. It was only about what they could do on the GTB either to incentivize me to keep it, or to trade for another car with a full refund right away. FNA would not consider either of those - putting any trade options back on the dealer, dealer decided they would not take the loss for FNA since the engine wasn't their fault. What about a special edition allocation under contract then if not payment? No, not that either... I kept throwing out options for months before hitting the wall.
Having an engine replacement is not a boost to the value of a brand new car, opposite in fact. If I were in the buyer’s shoes I would be concerned rest of the car is a lemon. I can see how FNA and the dealer both have fulfilled their obligations, which unfortunately excludes financial damage especially when the customer looks to trade in the car shortly. If goodwill is a thing, FNA and dealer both could give up some share of the profits especially for a repeat buyer. That sounds like a legit nightmare. I had a host of software and electronic issues likely with locking the car which cause a drained 12v, somebody who got in my car by trying the door and stole stuff, intermittently working CarPlay, haptics button, and recently reverse camera not showing up. Some interior issues like lifting alcantara on a 3 week old car that I was told by a dealer (not the one I bought it from) that it’s not under warranty. Thankfully everything related to driving has been flawless in these 5000km.
Depends on the age of the car, early ones were not fitted with the telemetries package whereas it is now standard, eg my early GTB did not have it my GTS does. Ask your dealer, and if you have it, ask them to activate/connect it to your Ferrari account. See the two attached pictures, the one with "BATTERY WARNING" is the default car picture and no the battery is not having a problem, the warning is if you are in "long parking" mode. The one with the 4 OKs is the detail view and you can then select more details from the five options below. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dont worry about your status, that's all a bunch of BS and you are likely not a Top and that's who gets all the cars. I am so glad I have made the decision to no longer buy new F cars, no more BS. I can freelance to any dealer and buy whatever I want when I want.
Hi everyone I’m experiencing a problem with my 2007 f430 f1 transmission and looking for someone who might have come across the same problem a maybe can help me , after getting warm and driving for probably 10 minutes sometime even less my transmission light comes on and it goes into neutral regardless of showing on the cluster that I’m in gear , shot the car off try to restart and it want start and the N is blinking on my cluster , after approximately few hours put the key on the transmission light is off and the car starts and everything is back to normal perfect shifts up or down also in automatic everything I shifting correctly but drive for 5 minutes same thing happens again any one with any info , I checked the fluids and it’s correct level , any help would be appreciated, thank you
Thanks but for me it was the other way around. Driving in any mode and being unable to go to EV. Not that I need it but just things you want to try out on a brand new car.
A "funny" (not so much for those who experience issues with their cars I guess) thing is when touring the Ferrari factory, they emphasize how many quality controls they have at virtually every steps of the building path ... we all know that they let cars go to customers with many left-over defects, so I really wonder what the f* they do with these quality checks. They have two problems actually - one is that on a reasonably managed production process, defects should be exceptional; and they are not - and the other is that the (too many) defects are not correctly addressed before releasing the cars. Both are linked of course, because a quality control is there to fix exceptional issues, and cannot cope with a globally defective process.
They should recall all the cars with the silly wheel and put the other one on them but hey, they ain’t the Japanese or the Germans
I had decided a while back to make a run at building up to special editions, and then this happened with my first new Ferrari. Now, in the words of Darkman: “I’m learning to live with a lot of things.” Yes, there were several intermittent electronic gremlins too. Cameras not turning on when reversing, not turning off when driving forward, EV system refusing to activate, plugged in and not charging, etc. You summed it up. I thought that their obvious failure to meet the legal deadlines for repair would have brought them to the table right away but I thought wrong. Everyone was just trying to wait me out.
Excessive and unnecessary complexity. There is so much digitalization and so much electrical stuff that it is difficult for a problem not to occur in such a complex system, even with infinite quality controls. And, as everything is interconnected in these digital/electrified vehicles, a simple problem can cause the car to break down completely.
Your F430 is a MY 2007, there is a good chance that it is a problem with the F1 actuator tolerance. Possibly, adjusting the F1 actuator tolerance will solve it. If it is not this (or not only this), it could be the clutch: overheating, wear, or end of useful life, which in the F430 can happen quite prematurely. Good luck!
Agree. The status bs is nonsense. I’m so sad to read this thread and all the issues. I hope you get all the money back.
Is there ANY owner (GTS) that has not experienced any problems?? I'm beginning to wonder if I should take the hit on the deposit and pass on this model. It's supposedly expected at the dealership in a couple/few months.
wow. some terrible experiences here. driving mine hard and 590 miles no problems so far. for now. we had issues with our land rovers and even with audis. but these hybrids really are a prob. so complex. good to do these buybacks. i forced a couple of these in my time with no issues just a pain in the butt but got them done. thanks to the law being quite concrete and clear. i predict lambo is going to have its hands full with the temerario too. it would suck to show off your $450K car to family and friends with the CEL on. fodder for the haters.
I have over 1800 miles in six months and have no problems besides an occasional gremlin which resets. And I've had those in all our Ferraris through the years. I think that most would say the same.
Dear all, I feel somehow sheepish because some of the issues I have been complaining about are mentioned in black and white in the manual. I am reading it diligently now and would suggest others consider doing so. We seem to be complaining an awful lot about being privileged to drive Ferraris in general and the wonderful 296 in particular. Which other brand sends yearbooks and magazines before delivery and photos of the car being manufactured and also a lovely box to display the key and spec and model of the car? I am done dissing a brand I aspired to be a small part of and would be remiss not to apologise to all, especially Ferrari. This chat is meant to celebrate an incredible legacy. Sure the cars are not perfect but there is a certain charm and character in the quirks no? The issue I had with the smeared windows was squarely and candidly explained and dealt with by the head of the service department @ Hatfield and I must say that the communications and quality of communications has improved dramatically since his return from Italy. Thanks to Levi. There was excessive lubricant for the window mechanism, as suspected by many. Also at sales Paddy and the team have been super proactive about ensuring that things are being done satisfactorily. Come on people, we are Blessed and I for one am deeply humbled and grateful to have been able to realise the dream of one day owning a beautiful Ferrari. The car will be returned in a couple of days (a wheel is being refurbished - newbie error by me when driving it on day one of ownership). Whilst I realise some people have much more serious issues with their cars, the fact remains that the 296 is a serious bit of kit. Better than anything I have ever owned by a very wide margin. Thank you Enzo Ferrari, RIP my friend. Few people have the good fortune to have the means and the ability to live their dreams. He was one of the lucky ones.
3k miles in 12+ months on road and track driven hard in high temps in Europe and UK as well as crawling in London traffic in EV mode and no significant issues - 12V battery discharged a couple of times after accidentally left it switched on (doh!) but just jump started it fine. And the front bonnet release didn’t work intermittently from new. Ferrari took car away and replaced a control unit under warranty and nothing since. frankly given the technology in this car and fact it is first generation Ferrari hybrid I was expecting far more issues! At the same time is there any other supercar offering this level of performance, excitement, versatility of hybrid at this price point? What would you buy instead? Go ahead and you won’t regret it!
It does appear that the majority of issues reported are with Gtbs. I haven’t really read about major issues with gts’s other than users expressing dissatisfaction and frustration over the Ui and haptics. Hopefully the new steering wheel eases frustration although when i last drove the car i couldn’t stop thinking who on earth was responsible for creating such a disastrously confounding system and, what was going through their heads when they thought users would love it? Totally nuts…. but then looking back over past models Ferrari have a history of unreliable electronics and incredibly poorly functionality of their UI’s, always arrogantly self proclaiming their brilliance as if users were all complaining for no valid reason. If its one thing im really not looking forward to its the user interface in this car. How it was ever allowed to go to market confirms Ferrari’s arrogance is so profound they are simply incapable of listening to their customers so the product is improved and users all speak favorably instead of being disappointed and left to complain. I was just watching a vid on the new gt3 where AP was explaining each new improvement based upon customer feedback. If only Ferrari adopted this attitude.
So what exactly have they done for you at this stage? Is there any form of compensation on the table or are they still just trying to dodge the issue? Seems incredible, although they’ve probably recognised how weak and underperforming the secondary market is for GTB’s and are hoping to step away from any losses associated to wearing the depreciation on the car if they offer full refund or offset the original purchase price against your incoming GTS.
