I think I already know the answer to this, but is there a cheaper version that maybe comes from Fiat that will work for our 308 reverse light switch?

300 bucks for a simple switch just... yeah.

Nothing in my cross reference book. Who is trying to get $300 for one? Retail is more like $200 and from Maranello Classic $150

No same part. It fits about 100 different Ferraris. In your desperation to not pay Ferrari prices you were trying to screw yourself.

Just buy Ferrari ****ing parts from good Ferrari suppliers and get over it. If you are going to waste so much time and wring your hands over the price of every part leave Ferraris to people who wear big boy pants.

    Really? "Big boy pants."

Ok, sorry I find it ridiculous that a simple pole switch costs $200.

I find it ridiculous that a Ferrari part that comes in a "horsey box" costs hundreds of dollars as opposed to the same part the is a Fiat part cost pennies on the dollar.

I guess we should get rid of the cross-reference thread about all of the Fiat parts or other parts that cost hundreds less than the absolutely ridiculous Ferrari prices?

There must be a lot of people on here that don't wear "big boy pants."

Or maybe there are people on here that actually don't drink the Ferrari cool-aid and think that the price gouging is abhorrent.

Feel free to spend your money how ever you like. And I'll feel free to spend my money how ever I like? Sound good?

You do realise that Ferrari's were never intended for people who worried about paying $300 for a switch? - And that they were in fact intended for people who saw paying $300 for a switch as bragging rights, a badge of honour!

You do also realise that, just because the cars got old and their values went down, the cost of the parts didn't automatically go down as well?

Yes some parts were shared with other cars, including FIAT's, but Ferrari used more bespoke parts on their cars than people give them credit for, and due to the rules of "supply and demand", you have to pay to play with Ferrari's - Which was never an issue for their intended owners, because they simply had no concept of running a car on a budget, and zero concerns about "Ferrari tax" on parts and servicing.

If you got more money than time try Superformance UK. They have a part for around $150. If you got time and no money Amazon has $29 switches that can be modified to work.

We should definitely delete the cross-ref thread for parts then.

If you think paying more for a switch gives you "bragging rights" then I got nothin for ya.

You also know that Enzo had complete contempt for his customers right? Ferrari never even "intended" to sell cars to the public in the first place.

Hell the very reason Lamborghini EXISTS is because Enzo was apparently a jerk to Ferruccio Lamborghini.

It doesn't surprise me AT ALL that there are people with more money than brains. There are plenty of public examples of that. Doesn't mean I want to emulate that.

So like I wrote before... I'll spend my money how I want to and you spend your money how you want to... sound good?

    I found one for $180

I bought a Fiat switch that would probably work just fine if the threads were pitched the same as the Ferrari part. I could modify it to work with that switch but that's farther than I would want to go to modify the car.

So I'll replace it with the Ferrari switch and if it happens to go out again we'll see. I did see that some parts suppliers had an aftermarket switch that cost around $30 (which is what a friggin simple pole switch SHOULD cost) but apparently it is either on backorder or they aren't manufacturing it anymore.

+1 on the Money vs. Time continuum.
We all come to Ferrari ownership with different backgrounds and perspectives; there’s no reason to be ****** just because somebody’s approach differs from yours.
