3 questions: 1. Does anybody have VR Forged D04 wheels on their 430/Spider? The attached pics are obviously a 458, but the look of those wheels absolutely kills me and I wondered if I can have them in 430-friendly sizes. Vivid's website doesn't seem to think so, but maybe there are very similar wheels by another brand? 2. How big / wide can you go on wheels on these cars without rubbing and/or major suspension changes? Stock is 19"... is 20" good for this car in certain widths? 3. If going to 20", what tire sizes do you recommend? I did a bit of research on the VR forged question here before posting and didn't see any answers. Maybe I should research the other two questions too. Sorry Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMHO, they don't look dramatically different than stock. There is zero benefit to going with a 20" wheel, in fact, it will make the harsh ride even harsher. Wheels with thinner sidewall tires get bent easier. If the car came with 20" wheels, would you then want 21"? Save your money for when the car needs something. Just my sage advice. It's your money. But if you're hellbent on going bigger and wider, they offer custom offsets, so I'm sure they'll make sure it fits.
I think that’s a good looking wheel, but there are lots of variations of that split 5 design from many different companies. I went with a set from BC forged (not mounted yet, waiting to install springs first). It’s all personal preference, but I prefer 19F/20R, especially with a monoblock wheel where you can fit large brakes up front inside a 19” wheel. To clear carbon ceramics, or a BBK up front, with a 2 or 3pc front wheel you would need a 20” up front. What is not personal preference is picking widths/offsets that won’t rub without modifying the car, and just as importantly picking tire sizes that are within a few percent of the stock height deviation from front to rear to keep the E-diff happy. There’s some good info in this thread… https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/those-with-19-20-wheel-combos-what-tires-for-no-errors.661843/
I bought RSR wheels which are similar. 19’s which I think have better ride quality than 20’s: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
oh these are perfect. Love those wheels, man! And the fact that they're available in 19 is great! Can you link me?
R902: https://rsrforged.com/ As a heads up, I had custom offsets made to fit the F430 as they don't fit off the shelf. I had to wait a few months for them to get made to my specs but they were reasonably priced for the set. Specs were: 19x8.5 +36 19x11 +30 These just barely cleared my CCM calipers by maybe 2mm in the front and I did get enough flex to slightly touch the paint on one. So, I would recommend lowering the offset in the front by a small amount if possible. +34 and +28 would be ideal if that is available. If you need an email contact, just PM me.
In general I love BBS LM style wheels on most cars, but I think LM-R’s look exponentially better on the 360/430. If price weren’t a concern I would have went with a set of gold LM-R’s on my 430, but it was.
Not your thing but these wheels are that you chose? Save yourself, those wheels look cheap and horrific.
Message sent about VR. Great wheel with a period correct design. I run them on my Viper (12" fronts with 3" lip & 13" rear with 3.6" lip).
