1st corner he saw a gap he goes for it..its a attempt to pass no touching no rubbing just racing and its first lap jostling so its fine

2nd, he defend hard but calling this run lando off is nonsense, max is defending he can brake late thus no room for lando to pass on the outside on the track..even lando have to go off track because max made it no room on the track doesnt mean he can just slip pass..max has made no room to pass on track so means no room to pass

this is racing, max know where and how to put his car and all within the racing and rules..most cant accept that max is just way more intelligent lol

 

I'd agree if Max stayed on the track but he went off, so imo passing him at that point is fair game.

 

Both drivers went off track, that doesn't exonerate Norris.

Certainly that applies to every team and they all are doing it at some point when clashing up front for a title or titles.

 

Unfortunately, this is very true. There is too much of bitchiness in F1 nowadays.

 

I view this as the team supporting a driver. Certainly critical to a driver is the backing of the team when under pressure/fighting. Re-inforces that critical support and status for the driver.

the point is max put lando in that position but doesnt mean lando get a free pass, lando didnt get the job done on track and thats it

 

Staying behind after being pushed out of track, McLando could have lobbied for Max getting a 5s penalty (for going out of track AND pushing a car out of track), so no need to overtake - just stay less than 5s behind Not sure about the chances of success though...

How many times this season have we had these arguments about penalties, track limits, questionable tactics etc.? Too much micromanaging by the stewards in my opinion. Let them race!

Agreed. Another factor here is the tracks. The paved run offs just encourage these guys to drive into these corners too deep(in max's case) to defend and guys on the outside aren't afraid to give up either because they will just go wide off the track, not lose time(in Landos case) and claim they were pushed off the track. If there was gravel or grass out there, this wouldn't have happened. I know safety is a thing here too with paved run offs but it has encouraged bad driving. IMO.

Perhaps we shouldn't limit our considerations for run offs to conservative options like paved, gravel or grass. I was thinking more along the lines of Mario Kart's Rainbow Road track limit philosophy. Wouldn't be cheap to implement, but it would end track limit discussions once and for all.

Side benefits would include increased numbers of spectators and more frequent opportunities for rookies.

 

Telemetry is good enough today so one could create a rule whereby if you exceed track limits, your engine does not produce any power for 5 seconds.

With a rule such as this, there is no reason to mess up the track with gravel, grass,... you just let the telemetry do the job for you.
Lesser classes without such a rule (or mandated telemetry) would not suffer.
