The F1 gearbox is actually the same gearbox as in manual cars - there is just some hydraulic / electric system on top of it, and I do not think it's actually that complex.
When the cars of the "F1-generation" will become older, their values will increase, which will both favour the search for authenticity and the acceptance of higher maintenance costs.
With the current rules, no converted car could ever be "Classiche" certified; it's hardly relevant today for a 360, F430 or 575, but that may change 10 years from now.
I think we begin to see Daytona's converted to spiders put back in their original form, same may apply for manual conversions in the future (that would be a lot less work than changing a car body).

Adjusting the PIS properly is easy. It can be tough finding a system to do it though. Fixing the power unit is easy, but sometimes finding the parts to do so is tricky. Rebuilding the actuator and getting the right parts for it when the seals go is a major pita. Diagnosing what to fix is also a real pita in many cases, but not all.

While I am on team manual swap, I gotta say that imo single clutch paddle shift systems are much more fun than the dcts of today. They still feel very mechanical, and repeated redline shifts are just as fun as manual imo.

1-- Over 6 years with my F1. No expense incurred-- not even a clutch (it had a new one installed when I bought the car by the PO.

2-- "no real world benefit over a manual"-- sometimes I like to have a leisurely drive with my wife and engage in conversation instead of laboriously rowing through the gears.

3-- I'm not in a big city but have had no problem finding a Ferrari Indy that can read and set PIS. Any shop that is serious about working on these cars (and others like it) have the tech to read clutch engagement.

4-- I've driven a lot of sports cars. To me the gated shifter in the year 2000 and beyond is a beta shifter.

12 years of the F1 trans seems a little more than beta, at least to me? I totally get it, to each their preference. Now if someone produced an F1S swap for a regular 430 F1, sign me up! The Scud is has the most engaging trans in history:)

FWIW, a $110 thinkdiag can do everything you need to keep your 430 F1 dialed in.

Lol. Anyone with a decent OBDII computer can adjust the PIS, and how can you say a transmission that was put in models since the 348 is a "beta". It's simply part of the evolutuon. By the time it was replaced with the DCT in 2010, it is was arguably the best automated single clutch system ever put into production.

Maybe that's why so many F1's are screwed up, garage DIY'ers adjusting the PIS with their Chinese made OBDII scanners? :D:eek::D:confused:

It's not that hard of a process, especially on an F430. Early to mid 360s were a lot more temperamental with diagnostic tools. If you had problems with your clutch engagement you would have to call your buddy Art and wait 4 years for him to help.

Or maybe if more people took the initiative to keep their F1's dialed in it wouldn't get such a bad rep?

Oh I'm sure driving a 21 YO Ferrari (mine is a 2003) the trans servos, etc. will eventually need attention. But even then I will have had over six (most likey more ahead) carefree years and will probably not spend any more than what it would cost to put a new starter in 10 YO Mercedes.
My friend has a V12 MB coupe and the power steering return hose needed to be replaced. Dealer said, engine out, replace the hose, engine back in = $3800. y0wza!

True. Mine have worked flawlessly for a decade. 355 & CS.

CS came from Beverly Hills Ferrari and f1 system has never been touched in 10 years
355 clutch and all clutch parts were changed seven years ago and has been flawless since. Was flawless before the clutch change also. If you have your car serviced by competent people that don’t **** it up, the F1 system works just fine

I’m willing to bet almost every F430 bought needs $5-10k in parts/labor in the first year of ownership. I know I’m well past that.

Is anyone still paying a hefty premium today for a converted car, versus a few years ago? I don’t think so, but I don’t scour the market much.
