    Hi,

I’m trying to understand whether non-US Icona SP1/2’s can be imported into the US.

I believe there are two issues at play. The first is the import process itself. Since all US SP1/2’s are on a Show & Display (S&D), it would seem that non-US cars can just go through an NHTSA/EPA/DOT homologation process and then earn the same S&D status as US cars.

Once the non-US car is homologated, it can stay in the US and be driven on the track, special events, etc. A secondary issue then becomes whether it can be made road legal, and for that, I understand a conversion kit is available from the dealership that adds a windshield and other road-legal requirements.

Could somebody confirm if my understanding of the issues are correct. If so, any idea on what the homologation costs would be? I’m assuming $200-$300k, but that’s just a guess.

Could somebody also confirm what the conversion kit costs to make it road legal. It seems the numbers posted vary from $65k to $100k, and three to four weeks of downtime.

    Thanks for any/all feedback.

The conversion kit is about $65K (before taxes). It only changes the wiring and does not add a windshield. As for how to import a car under S&D, you might want to ask one of the Ferrari dealerships that has done a few conversions. They might have a connection to Ferrari North America and the legal council that's doing the permits.
