    Hello,
Does anybody know how many Rosso Dino 512BB's were produced? I have a 1979 512BB that was originally Rosso Dino, but was painted Rosso Corsa in 1980 when it was brought in the USA. It still wears that second coat,
    Thanks!

Very, very few. I would repaint it to its original hue in a heartbeat! Might even pay for itself...!

    Good day,

Perhaps send a message to Newman, as he restored the very first 512BB and it was Rosso Dino as well... and so he may know how many were painted this color. Also, my car ... chassis 21659 ... suffered a similar fate, as it was originally painted Rosso Dino then repainted resale red sometime in the 80's? Between your car, the first 512BB, and mine... we know of at least 3 painted this color :)

    Cheers,

    Sam

Thanks! If I can ever save enough money, I will repaint it.

    Good day Jim,

    You are most welcome!

Indeed, my car still has the Rosso Corso repaint on it with black boxer trim and Black interior. My car's paint and overall condition is in good (say 6+), but does have a few bumps and bruises from use. Consequently, it is hard for me to justify a repaint as it is now. However, if/when I do, it will go back to its original Rosso Dino Color. Another consideration is that there are few (if any) local shops that would have the necessary skills/experience to do a full and proper repaint.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good afternoon Sam,

I am in the exact same predicament as you! Still such a lovely car in any color, we are so fortunate to have one!

    Take care,

    Jim

I dont know how many were Rosso Dino. Marcel Massini might know. It's a great color, more orange in person than most photos I see on line.

The prototype I restored. It was also Rosso Corsa when it arrived for the restoration.

Thanks for responding, the Boxer that you restored is beautiful. You are right, Rosso Dino is more orange looking indeed. I have an orange KTM and it is almost identical to an area on an inner fender of my Boxer that has the original paint peaking through.

It wouldn't surprise me if it crosses over to Chevy Hugger Orange. When I restored my 1948 Harley I went with Azure Blue which was an option back then, today crosses over to a 79 Lada.

Yes, it is very close if not identical to Chevy Hugger Orange!
