How on earth does failing to adhere to aborted start rules not warrant a penalty? How on earth does altering the car in a way against the rules for it to better compete in the race not warrant a penalty? I believe both of these infractions would fall under the sporting regulations, the same blanket of regs that Parc Ferme falls under. We know if a team alters the car while in parc ferme it is forced to start from pit lane. If they start on the grid they are subject to severe penalties including a DQ. If either of the above infractions falls under the technical regulations, then it's instant DQ.

What?? Max won-- the show is actually over. Lando had a small chance for a WDC. That is close to zero now! All the conspiracy talk around this place and still not happy lol. Hilarious. The FIA rules in the race helped Max win with stop timing vs Mclaren. OMG blame the Brit press lol.
Failing to follow the aborted start rules is an infringement and should have been penalized accordingly (remember the time penalties some time ago for not lining up correctly on the starting position?) but it had zero effect on the outcome of the race. But changing the setup of the car on the grid does influence a race. A $5000 fine is a small price to pay for that and it opens the door for all teams to change whatever they like on the grid. FIA is severely undermining their own authority here.
Lots of armchair experts here who love to cling to conspiracy theories when there isn’t one. Most also believe the earth is flat and the moon landings never happened.
Racing and F1 is not all about advantage, it’s also about safety. It’s also about sticking to rules, that’s why they are there. In the Norris case there is actually a precedent. In March Doriane Pin in the F1 Academy race carried on for a lap after the cool down lap. She received a 20 second penalty. This was about safety, as marshals etc. would not be expecting a car to come through. In this case, Stroll’s car was still being recovered so the same safety issues apply. He was so simply let off by a bunch of at best incompetent and at worst heavily biased stewards. Same with the Mercedes tyre issue. You get DSQ’d for being a mm out. These were not €5k penalty infringements. For crying out loud it was half the penalty Leclerc got for swearing! Time to get some Dutch and Belgian stewards on the job
Dorian Pin earlier this year in Formula W or whatever it's called today (FIA international rules, same as F1) got a 20 second penalty for doing an extra in lap after finishing the race. Her radio didn't work and she didn't realize the race had ended. FIA was upset that she potentially endangered track workers. Norris started a race that was abandoned, potentially endangering the workers already on track including the tractor recovering the man with the wet chin's car. I don't care that half the grid started as well; the others that did abide by the rules effectively got punished for following the rules. Anywhere else this would've been a time penalty set in the race at minimum. 5K and a single point is ridiculous by any measure.
I don't know about that. The BBC and Skysport TV commentators perhaps, but certainly not the British press. This Monday, most of them blame Norris for failing to reduce the gap with Verstappen, and to have lost (in their eyes) any chance of winning the title this year. They had entertained that hope so far. Most of the tabloids (The Sun, Daily Mail, etc ...) are heavily critical of McLaren strategy, and the failure to use the Parc Ferme after a Red Flag to change tyres, like Red Bull and Verstappen did. As for Norris effort, it was, according to them, far from what to expect from a championship contender, constantly displaying poor driving at Interlagos.. But of course, the views of British TV commentators are widely broadcasted whilst very few people outside the UK read the British press.
The British Press were NOT at the post race interviews with Max, Ocon and Gasly ALL BECAUSE OF ONE DRIVER winning the Sao PauloGP.....not biased you say? I think not.
Any explanation on that ? It's poor behaviour to shun the winner at a press conference. Maybe it was in reaction to Max saying he had the wrong passport in the paddock, a comment obiously directed at British stewards following the penalties he received. Plus the unfair media reports towards him. I have no dog in that fight, but people are now outspoken and egos have been bruised on both sides.
I don't know William, but we all know how Max is but the British Press is certainly showing their true colors as of late and they are the ones that need to change because Max certainly isn't going to change his ways. Max winning was certainly a big "F*** YOU!!" to his critics and the British Press and they "walked out" like little babies saying they weren't having none of Max's celebrations nor are they going to write about the skill and talent that it took to achieve what transpired yesterday. It was simply on another level that we have seen twice by this remarkable man given the circumstances.
I'm happy Max wrapped up the title, it would be so unfair if Norris had a shot at it...he's not even in the same zip code as Max. As for us, well, Carlos ****ed up big time today, and it costed us, together with his brain fade crash against Perez at Baku it will probably cost us the championship...but i guess it's the same for everyone. Let's move on and hope for a return to form for the next races.
The British press are a bunch of bloodhounds smelling blood. When one of their own has a chance to win or is slighted they will do anything to attack and smear the others. When one of their own disappoints they will shred him to bits. We know the score,
I would say that if the British press boycotted the post-race interview because Max won, that's definitely poor show. The media are there too report, nor take side. Their job is to inform the public by delivering information, first and foremost. A bias media loses all objectivity and becomes partisan. Let's each individual makes their own opinion by simply delivering info.
I’m all for consistent and by-the-book enforcement. My point…perhaps ineptly made…was that while Norris and Russell were at fault, they were not responsible for the light penalty. The other two drivers who were “influenced” should have been penalized as well. The appropriateness of the penalty is definitely in question, though. The entire matter of penalties needs to be completely overhauled. For instance, penalizing drivers for technical infractions over which they have no control instead of penalizing the team is absurd.
I think it's kinda funny that Lando was talking about how Max got lucky and was intimating something other than talent was the real reason Max won. I think for a guy who was handed a win in the sprint, who lost his pole position ... again... and ran off the track twice during pivotal racing during the final laps... oh and was given an extra place in the race... he should probably just the shut the hell up. I'm still trying to figure out how they delayed the VSC during the sprint to give McLaren enough time to swap drivers. I would've loved to hear those phone calls between the stewards and McLaren. Hulk was walking near the track with cars going by. If there was a clear indication that something is going on, I don't know what is.
