Wrong..he HAD to go...long, ong time ago, 8 years ago, when he was almost 2seconds per lap slower than a retiring Massa!!!
I thought for a while Stroll had the potential to really be something in F1. Over the last 2 seasons he has really fallen. It almost seems like he has lost interest. He rarely speaks to the press, and when he does, he seems to be very short, almost annoyed. I think something has changed with him.
Perhaps--despite his father's projected ambitions and support he realizes that he doesn't belong there?
When Stroll beached it in the gravel, the Sao Paulo crowd was shouting "Drugovich!!!"....."Drugovich!!!" Even they know.......jeeeezus.
Every season there are drivers who have a worse track record than Lance Stroll on the grid. His results are maybe not brilliant, but they would place him mid-fied most years.
I can't believe there are others still defending this guy, it's the only reason this thread still exists, everyone else is incredulous anyone thinks this guy belongs anywhere near an F1 car and then can muster up the care to post, otherwise I don't think anyone would bother except when he ruins their favorite drivers race. It'd be one things if this type of driving were rare, but it's what, the 3rd or 4th time he's crashed this season completely unforced, and this time on the formation lap? At least he didn't take anybody else out or cock up anyone's race too badly this time and we didn't have to see him uselessly circulating around battling for last place. Then yeah, it's the cars fault he drove it through the gravel, not his
I can understand Stroll not being comfortable with the media, and I think he doesn't connect easily with people.
Meanwhile the thread about Canada's 3rd most successful F1 driver has reached the 300th page on FerrariChat. I could be wrong but that might be only second to Sire Lewis Hamilton's thread.
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date This has to go down as one of the most useless brain dead moments in F1 history. After an embarrassing crash on the formation lap he is presented with another no pressure situation to simply turn right on the tarmac and continue towards the grid. He could have even turned left all the way down the escape road. Remember the race isn't going on, there is NO pressure. Instead he chooses to drive his car into the gravel that is there to stop race cars. I would be embarrassed to be a fan of his.
Here's the really telling part of Brazil...It was one of Lance's best races in the 2nd half of the season. He didn't wreck the car. He didn't ruin anyone else's race. He only cost a few drivers a few grand in fines due to the formation lap cock up, and he didn't put hardly any mileage on the engine. The mechanics just have to clean out some gravel and maybe patch up the floor. Well done Lance!
And then he blames brake failure for the 1st incident against the wall. Simply idiotic this whole sequence of events.
Y'all are being very unfair to Lance..... He spun into the wall on the formation lap because..... Ericsson hit him....
What they say publicly and privately are probably two different matters. We don’t have any idea how the discussions go privately within the team. …at least I don’t; maybe some folks here do. Hilarious video, though, that’s for sure.
Not so my friend. You forgot his masterful crash into the barriers all by himself in qualifying…. Car totalled. Business as usual.
Ah well, at least he didn't total it again in the race! I bet Newey is loving the feedback he can provide.
The fans already saw it coming the moment he started to drive towards the gravel trap...openly started to laugh at him en masse before he even got stuck. The guy is a complete and utter embarrassment.
It looked intentional tbh - like he saw his front wing had some damage and just decided to beach it either out of embarrassment or because it was beneath him to start from the pit lane.
