They're all stunning. Simply stunning. Each has it's own "WOW" factor and attributes. It's a personal choice. For me, the 288 and F40 are tops. One moment I think the F40 is the tops, then I look at the 288. Unreal. The rawness of the F40 is untouchable. The production numbers of the F50 is indisputable. For me, I'd pull the trigger on a no stories F40 and driver her. Must say though the Giallo F50 is drool-worthy. It's simply insanely beautiful.

It started at 8.30am with the target of detailing two extra sets of original F50 silencers. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login We took on a challenge, namely to tackle the fact that on one set somebody in Germany wrote ‘F50’ on the silencers and other detailers could not remove it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login It took us 1/2 a day to improve the situation somehow but still the challenge is not solved. But lots of improvement to the overall condition Image Unavailable, Please Login We also took the opportunity to clean a swirl here, a mark there and a waxing everywhere!… Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I want to thank you for the time spent around your dream cars, videos, pictures and of course for the edition of your next book, which I am sure will be a best seller.
I enjoyed a 50 km drive today in an F50 (even though it’s super-low mileage one at 1,340 miles). Engine mechanical sound in the cabin is something else - at 3,500 rpm I had to really raise my voice to be heard by the passenger. Absolutely. A sports exhaust or straight pipes kills it completely. (If the roof is off, it’s even worse - just gases overwhelming noise). It took me 10 years to realise that…
Good for you Doc, enjoy. PS Did any of the detailers try dry ice cleaning to get the 'F50' off the silencers?
interesting, a lot of people slate some of the new cars like AMG One, Aston Valk for loud cabin noises - I didn't realise the f50 was similar
No comparison. In the F50 it’s a most enjoyable sound. You want to hear/feel more of it and it entices you to push the throttle further and further. No headphones or any similar stuff. My passenger yesterday (a first in an F50) was drooling and asking for more - but I could not oblige given very old (but original) Goodyear Fiorano tyres…
Another day of improvement: - cleaning new original Pierburg valves (that fit on silencers), - cleaning set of silencers without any re-coating - refreshing all the plastics/rubber - paint touch-up of stone chips (after reproducing the original Rossa Corsa paint from the code on the boot) - hoovering small stone from the engine bay as well as detailing all the car after a 50-km drive a couple of weeks ago. Exhausting day but very satisfying… Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So today, Bradley and myself went somewhere else to give another car some care. I knew that when we get there, we will say “but what will we do from 8.30am to 4.30pm?” Looking at the car (whether outside, engine bay, or inside) confirmed that suspicion: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login However, I am a firm believer in continuous improvement as well as meticulous attention to details, so Bradley started with the engine bay and polished some brass and/or steel and/or aluminum to bring them to original factory finish. Cont’d… I, on the other hand, went for the rubber parts. It’s really good practice to apply appropriate moisturizing cream to keep the rubber and plastics hydrated. I started with thin rubbers in the sills and around the light lenses Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Note I like to match colours (green in this case…) Then I covered the doors, around windows, as well as boot and the foot rests: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
