Hey there folks. I generally prefer to stick to OEM wheel/tire specs, but I potentially have a good deal on some HRE rims for a 458, but the sizes are a good bit wider than the stock ones:
    • Front: 20x9 ET34
    • Rear: 20x12.5 ET55
If I did this, I would probably run my current oem tires down, then use the stock diamond cut 20" rims as my winter tire rims, and use the HRE rims for my summer sport tires.

Would be curious to hear from others who have gone wider on how it feels? Right now, I can't imagine this car feeling any more amazing in corners or with grip, and it makes me second guess going non-OEM for a second set of rims.

Long winded way of saying... I want to get a second set to put winter tires on. These HREs are a screaming deal, but the size is not standard and I'm worried about handling.

    Things to consider....

    1. wider than stock tire usually also increases the sidewall height a little thus a bigger overall diameter of the tire.
    2. As long as you keep the front to rear overall diameter "difference" in oem spec from front to rear you will have no issues with traction control and ABS. Example=( front tire diameter and rear tire diameter oem difference is .4"...you need to stay right around that spec. >5 or more difference depending on the car will cause traction control and ABS issues).
    3. A larger overall diameter does change the gearing...the final gearing is the tires diameter and going larger diameter will slow acceleration some.
    4. It is better if you are putting wider tires on to go with a wider wheel to keep the sidewall in proper spec. It is better to have a sidewall squared or ever so slightly stretched for handling that to have a wider tire on a narrower wheel causing more sidewall flex side to side.

Thanks for that info! The ratio bit is interesting and makes sense.

I also wasn't clear in that the wider HRE's would definitely be getting different tires on them size wise. I think the correct tire size would be
    front 245/35-20
    rear 345/30-20

    vs the oem
    front 235/35-20
    rear 295/35-20

345 for the rear is all sorts of wrong. Closer to OEM would be a 325/30-R20 (just over 1% OEM OD) but its gonna look pretty JDM with a 12.5 wide wheel (for my taste at least).

I'm not sure these wheels would even fit. Rears are for sure your problem:

    stock: 10.5j ET 58.5
    new: 12.5j ET 55

If this is accurate, in the rear, they are 2" wider - distributed roughly evenly, making the wheel stick out a little over an inch.

A lot of people sell wheels as compatible with 458/488/F8 and if they are, they are usually built to fit a 458 and will at best be OEM offset for a 488/F8. In this case, it looks like these were likely built for the later, and someone is selling them to you as a 458 compatible wheel.

Yeah... I am not a fan of the wheels wider than the car look, which is what this seemed like it was going toward.

Thanks everyone for the info, super helpful and much appreciated :)

THIS!!!! ^^^^^ couldn't put it better myself. I would not fit those wheels on a 458.
