It's an interesting exercise to track down the funding for bodies like Queensland South Native Title Services. They're funded by the federal govt via the NIAA (National Indigenous Australians Agency). The only financial report I could find shows "QSNTS received a total grant funding of $11,594,902 in 2016/17", so it would be reasonable that the $12m has increased since. $12m pays the salaries of lots of lawyers and advisors. In my experience, these bodies employ a lot of highly educated non-Indigenous people. On the QSNTS website I count 9 white senior managers and 1 Indigenous "Chairperson". He's not a token is he? Of course, one or two of the others might identify as Indigenous. But I'd bet that none of them are sleeping on a concrete slab in Wadeye. From the NIAA: Under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (the Act) native title claimants can make an application to the Federal Court to have their native title recognised by Australian law. Presumably the counter parties would be people who have existing interests in the land and of course competing Indigenous groups. So the taxpayer funds lawyers to pursue claims against the interests of taxpayers. It's taken years of government incompetence to engineer this. Once native title is granted, the real business of rent seeking commences. Over 50% of Australia is native title, yet the outcome for people in remote communities continues to be hopeless.
Let's see how this one goes: https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/nsw-government-to-fight-aboriginal-land-claim-over-penrith-stadium/news-story/467c9e36a1db6a20569ddfbef2c7047c
Really......... been to Alice Springs lately. Or some of the Caravan stops out west where at dusk they lock the gates and your in a secure compound at night, no one in or out.
The Port O Bourke pub....in Bourke..der, has a sold steel unclimbable gate to secure their carpark! Go to any of the NSW towns that are high Murri/Coori population and you will find every one of them have steel mesh/steel shutters, indeed if you drive through Hope Vale,a Murri community, on your way to various camp sites on Cape York, all the buildings have this treatment.....there own community FFS When/if you ever pass through some of these places check out the fuel stops...more security than bloody Fort Knox.
Yes I've seen the abbo pub in Cooktown, the shutters over everything, including the bar, and the fire hose behind the bar so you can hose the patrons out past the furniture that is concreted into the floor. But, you don't even have to be in a town. Blokes you and I know on this forum, have experienced a welcome to country of a different type out in the boondocks. Miles from of nowhere, a human type road block is formed to stop you, and if you do, you and your wife will be dragged from the car and belted, and most like your car will be set alight, and then left to your own devices. Some other truck drivers I know have confirmed this, so its not isolated. This is not the Australia I grew up knowing.
How embarrassing for us. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14109329/Welcome-country-Azerbaijan.html
Absolute joke. How many dickheads did we send to this total wank fest? And we get five people watching? And this clown embarrasses us with this crap? Apparently 70,000 - that’s right. Seventy thousand - “delegates” attend this climate change junket. Most of whom probably fly in. The Left really is an utter disgrace. It’s hard to know how anyone with a functioning brain can vote for these fools.
We recently spent several days with a couple of very intelligent people who are hard core lefties, and I talked to them a lot to try to get a picture of why they formed the views they have (because I’m not stupid enough to assume everyone who has a different opinion to me is automatically an idiot, even if most of them are. ). What I found is that they are completely obsessed with personalities. Policies don’t seem to matter so much to them. So, if Trump is a knob (which he probably is), they hate him. His policies don’t matter. And, if Dutton is “unlikeable” or looks a bit “weird” (neither of which I agree with) they couldn’t vote for him. Again, the policies don’t matter. I even asked about some of Dutton’s policies and they said they agree with them! Lol Tony Abbott? Hate him because they met him once and he apparently didn’t give them the level of attention they felt they deserved. So, one personal interaction and he’s toast. And it goes on. The difference is I couldn’t care less if someone is a “good bloke”, or a knob, or a woman is lovely or a toe-rag or whatever. If I agree with their policies that’s all that matters to me.
Agree I'm the same with 911s I don't so much like there look, but i do like there drive ability and mechanical strength Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've voted for BOTH sides ....... can you say that ? If not then you're a sheep I don't believe either side has a monoploy on good ideas I had this argument with PP this afternoon, he said I was an idiot and I agreed he was as well
PP is quite correct. And not for the first time. I’ve certainly not voted for the Coalition every election, but as a man of principles and convictions I will never vote Labor, Green, Teal, etc. That said, the current Labor government in SA is actually a decent centrist government. The best Labor government here I’ve ever known, and I expect them to be in power for at least the next decade. The funny thing is, the sooner the clown show in Canberra is thrown out the quicker we’ll be better off (Mali is a huge supporter of nuclear power and I bet he’d be quite happy to see the back of Albo and his fools). Let me guess, you voted for Turnbull?! Every time I ask a lefty if there was ever a Liberal they liked or voted for the answer is always the same: Turnbull. Or Bishop. Hilarious.
Gorton, Hewson, Turnbull and Morrison Turnbull only because I was hoping for a republic, I hate ALL royalty
