The excuses are wearing thin. The writing on the wall hasn’t changed. When too much has been paid to begin with the market corrects itself. Nothing new going on here unfortunately.
Not an owner, but playing the waiting game to see how the market plays out. And hopefully have a better feel for reliability. So get out there and drive, fellas!
Mostly fairly standard , Rosso Corsa no carbon , no electric or carbon seats , no stitching in the interior , no premium High Fi , this car ticks few boxes and the Provence is unknown
Yes it’s a disaster and no excuses can cover it up. They keep boasting of $180,000 profit per car, so take the current msrp prices and deduct 180 grand and you get a reasonable price. I think my entry-level 296 GTS for $510k priced at $330k is probably about the right price, that’s the same price as a Bentley GTC which sounds fair to me (the Bentley is way nicer by the way). And believe me I’m not trying to talk the market down, I’m still trying to blow out of my car.
The photos show it has all exterior cf. Elec seats with cavalinos, deviated sitch and special stripe stitch with Daytona inserts, painted calipers. Diamond cut forged wheels…. tons of boxes ticked so no sure what you mean?
Any chance You are Pastaboy1980???? Same pictures and same story. Post #1682 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-296-gtb-picture-thread.644027/page-68
Beautiful car. Keep it and try not to worry about the inevitable. Keep the thought in mind you bought it to drive it and enjoy the art associated to what you personally created. A loss is only realised when you sell anway but yes in this case it will be brutal. The rest looks pretty good to my eyes although you seem to have a thing about RC because its for free, I think you are really clutching at straw here - borderline desperate. The reality is there. The car is simply far too expensive for what it represents, so add on cost options to try and at least make the car look somewhat how it should present without any options at all and the price becomes even more eye wateringly ridiculous. The problem why the car is struggling to find buyers willing to pay the price is as plain as day. Ferrari has completely ripped off the original purchaser and the secondary market wants no part of that. They look at the car at what it physically represents for the dollars asked ( as any normal used buyer does ) and this is where the problem begins. Nobody is arguing the car isnt a great drive or performance package - its the price thats out of kilter with what the car represents- not only with previous models and the dollars they sold new for new which was already OTT - but also the competition which is far stronger than it ever was - and in many cases superior in every respect.
The market is obviously not very good for second hand 296s, but the UK is currently the worst market - so UK examples "magnify" the situation.
lol. It was one of those moments where my brain said “I think I’ve seen those photos before”. I kind of remember someone posting screen shots from their phones wallpaper, misspelling tailor and bragging about a crazy spec. I still remember Pastaboy’s crazy, drunk ramblings and going off on everyone.
Sorry you are way off , look at the list of extras on the ad , this tells you the low spec . There are better looking and spec cars that do move at higher prices. You seem fixated at just bagging the 296 and Ferrari direction in general and claim it is too expensive to start with. Thousands of new buyers prove you wrong and the people complaining here are disappointed they are not driving a car for 12 months for free with no depreciation . Across all brands except for the relatively exclusive models within a range there is no money to be made in exotics as there may have been in the past. You should not buy one if you cannot afford to have it , that includes depreciation
The pictures of the car showing all the options Ive specifically mentioned does not lie. Other than perhaps relatively inexpensive options, with exception to a high cost paint option (which rarely returns on resale anyway as even my dealer admits), the car appears to be on the higher end of the spec scale. There are also posters on this thread who have indicated they are sitting it out untill more evidence supports the current situation is temporary. To say they or I can’t afford the car is plain rude btw. As a soon to be owner, I share your disappointment witnessing what is happening in the secondary market, however, being rude to others is not going to fix the situation, nor is coming up with thin excuses.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202411216587049 I think you should click on the details, also zoom in on the front spoiler pic , it appears to be damaged, probably no lifter This car has standard paint , exterior carbon , black exhaust tip , forged wheels ( hence titanium wheel bolts. It has Daytona seats , not ventilated , no mention of Hi Fi or extended leather interior or leather headliner or carbon tunnel or carbon interior of any description, no adas ( this is to be standard in the UK soon) We cannot see what mats etc are there . Now this is what I have been able to deduce , I may have missed something but this does show a lot of options have been left on the table My GTS is at status 90 , to me you need to enjoy the car , accept it will depreciate or if you are worried cancel your order . There will be another willing person to take it and if you are that concerned about depreciation you may lose less. My observations regarding the inability to drive a car for 12 months and trade it are 100% correct, particularly for those financing a car , which I just do not do . Bagging a brand that has the same market issues as others does not seem logical either Lastly I did not intend to be rude I use the objective lense to assess a market and those participating in it .
The link provided has no mention of all or any options clearly on the car as per pics provided. The details you refer as proof is merely a generic list most on line car sales mediums offer on a listing. An owner specing full cf amongst other exterior options as shown, along with interior pics showing multiple cost options on the seats, goes without saying its an extremely unlikely scenario other basic options such as electric seat functionality, sound, lift and the likes were not ticked. This whole argument you are trying to push as justification for the low pricing of the car because of being poorly and, under optioned, which is clearly not the case. Your sole supporting evidence - as per link - is a generic list which doesn’t even list any of the cost options clearly on the car. Now you are trying to draw attention to the possibility there is a minor scrape to the underside of the front lip which I certainly can’t see at all. Honestly? You cannot be serious. And me bagging the brand? Enough already! I also note the car still hasn’t sold at the crazy low price. As previously stated, the main reason for lacklustre resale pricing is clearly because the car was way overpriced to begin with - Ferrari price gouging - and the secondary market is still in correction as a consequence of that. Its really that simple - no need to become overly emotional and rude toward others who have managed to spot the obvious. Also, having the means to pay the exorbitant pricing and, accepting the incredible depreciation levels as being “acceptable”, are two separate issues entirely.
