More details of the contract between Ferrari and Hamilton have "leaked". Hamilton would receive $100M (increasing each year), including basic salary, performance bonus, image rights, plus a $20M contribution to Mission 44, his UK foundation created to help youngster from ethnic background to study maths, science, technology and engineering. Hamilton's company that sells alcohol-free drink Almave (?) would be advertised on the cars. Also, Hamilton would be an ambassador for the charity John Elkann is about to launch in the US on behalf of EXOR, the Agnelli Holding Company that owns Ferrari.
Its an indication of how Ferrari have the money to pay them both actually. Rather easily at that. Hamilton says he is 'definitely not fast any more' Lewis Hamilton has said he is "definitely not fast any more" after another disappointing qualifying performance in his final season at Mercedes. Hamilton's comments came after he qualified seventh for the sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix.
Sure glad that Ferrari chose a guy that doesn't even believe in his own speed just to help sell merch and cars. It's getting harder and harder to stay a Ferrari fan to be honest.
More details for you in this article (in French); Lewis Hamilton et Ferrari vers un accord à 410 millions d’euros ? Lewis Hamilton et Ferrari vers un accord à 410 millions d'euros ?
I respect him to admit this. Not easy for a top athlete to admit this in public. The numbers not really lying so why look stupid and deny and deflect. A big lesson for Perez actually. Perez is a total joke. He blames anyone but his own LACK of speed/skill. Pathetic at this point and just a good laugh it is at him. Zero boy he is.
I sensed that Hamilton started to decline during the 2021 season, but very gradually. He didn't fall off the cliff like Ricciardo or Perez did, because he still have a high level of skill and experience to compensate. The years have taken their toll, and Hamilton isn't fast in any circumstance like he was.
This article dates back February 2024 and uses conditional forms - so it's rather hypothetical (although the mentioned amounts are probably not out of reach).
Point taken. Like anything printed, or said, it's not to be taken as Gospel. Hamilton signing for Ferrari goes a bit deeper than just driving for them, I think. Lewis wanted to leave a legacy in his community in UK, after retirement from F1. Elkann offered to participate in that, where Mercedes wasn't interested.
Frankly I really hope all of this is just wrong hypothesis.. They are not that stupid isn’t it ? Oh wait, aren’t they plotting right now an EV car for the coming year ?
I'm gonna keep tabs on: Leclerc and Sainz 2024 points per race. Leclerc and Hamilton 2025 points per race. And make a comparison.....race per race.
I can definitely respect admitting fault or not giving excuses for results vs being cocky and claiming they are the best or blaming others or whatever the case is. However I struggles with someone that is supposedly the best publicly admitting they have lost their mojo with no understanding why, especially since they are about to go to the most prestigious team in F1 for an absurd amount of money. Even if its true, it might have been best for Hamilton to keep it behind closed doors. I personally see no reason why he can't be as good as he was in 2023. Seems like he is mentally checked out, which is a whole other discussion about his championship qualities.
A 7x WDC title holder wanting to "throw in the towel" and your team says...."NO!"....stay in. Lewis has given up when the odds are against him. Hey Lewis, talk to Alonso when EVERYTHING seems to going the wrong way for you. Look up the word when EVERYTHING is stacked against you: "Perseverance"
"That's for all the kids out there who dream the impossible!" Yeah, sure.......uh-huh......whatever you say.
After hearing this and Hamilton admitting that he is no longer fast, if I were Ferrari, I would look for a way to part ways with Hamilton and keep Sainz.
I don't think John Elkann decided to take on Lewis Hamilton to be a front runner and win races and championships for Ferrari. That may come as a shock for tifosi, but that deal was motivated by commercial interests.
Well, sure, but I don’t think Elkann was expecting to get a guy who apparently now needs active encouragement to stay in the car and race.
