Such a wealth of information on Fchat: Collections Obrist and Bardinon | FerrariChat
In any case good for BE that he is facing his mortality, some people on Fchat seem to struggle with that.
I spoke with Obrist at the Fiorano track during concours day at the Ferrari 60th in June 2007. We were inside the enclosed pit the F1 team and others use. His description of Ecclestone was colorful, he was deeply upset...
I know both gentlemen. In normal biz world one has to provide collateral for a loan and if you don't repay the loan (at the date agreed) the collateral is gone. In this case it was a collection consisting of 28 Ferraris. It's that easy. Absolutely no need for being deeply upset. If you play too high you may loose. Bernie is a superstraightforward man, a deal is a deal, a handshake is enough. You don't even have to count your fingers. Marcel Massini
I fully agree, he is known for sticking to his word, I think that Obrist underestimated the rigidity of the deadline, hoped for an extension. I actually met Ecclestone, in Gstaad, June 2020, he was walking out of an art gallery 100 metres from his hotel, so I went to introduce myself, I was able to mention a couple of people we both know which helped getting to chat with him for a few minutes, very interesting. His wife was nearby, that was less than a week before she gave birth to their son.
Love the 1966 312 Monza winner best!! Although the nose is wrong, not wide enough and missing vent holes on the sides, and the wheels are the 1967 type. 1951 Monza winner also nice, with a few mistakes, maybe with exhaust? Image Unavailable, Please Login
It would be good to see a complete list of the 69 cars on offer but I understand that they are being offered as a set and I am totally unqualified to enquire and we might not see individual adverts. The Ferrari aren't super difficult to pin down but the Brabhams and others aren't easy to work out without detailed photos.
Regarding the Ferraris (apologies if some c/n or model names are imprecise) these are the ones I know: - 375 F1 #5 - 246 F1 #0003 - F2002 #220 - 166 F2 #0118 - 312/66 F1 #010 - 312 B2 #008 - 312 B3 #011 - 312 T #022 - 312 T2 #029 - 555 F1 #FL9002 - 1512 F1 #0007 - 125 GP "Thinwall Special" #125-C-02 - 312 T3 #032 There are two more that I can't identify in the photos (maybe a 126 C3 and a 126 C4) and then there are the replicas (a 246 F1, a D50 and a 801) . The Brabhams are a different story: there's a BT46B in the Cité du Lait museum in France (owned by the parent company of Parmalat), a BT49D was sold by Fiskens a couple of years ago, there's a BT49C campaigned by a Spanish gentleman driver and BMW owns one of the BT52s. Bernie probably owns the rest of them
I guess it is chassis 312/66 F1 #010 painted to look like the 1966 Monza or SPA winner? If the SPA car the motor is also wrong.
Wrong again. And the number is 0010. Four digits. NOT 010. That would be a totally different vehicle. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 166 F2 is not 0118 but 118. Also there are 088 and 104. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Really? Who would both have the necessary funds and space and want that many racing cars? Surely that would be seriously limiting your potential buyers and thus also limiting the price that could be achieved?
Here is the racing history of "0010". So, it is the painted to represent the SPA car, but looks to have the later 36 valve motor which it did not get until Italy. Thanks, Marcel, for the chassis information. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was trying to identify the cars between the Ferraris and the Brabhams. From left to right, front to rear. Can you help to complete the list. Talbot-Lago T26 C #110011 ??? grey car BRM V16 MkII Vanwall VW10 Auto-Union Type C Replica Mercedes-Benz W125 Replica Maserati 250 F #2514 ?? Talbot-Lago T26 C #110007 Bugatti?? blue Connaught Type B Maserati 4 CLT #1606 Bugatti Type 54 #54203 ?? Blue Gordini ?? Blue
I think I read there were 4 Maserati 4CL variants in the sale. I like your guesses and would add one more Gordini and Talbot Lago T26 as my guesses (below). Maserati 4CL/CLT -> ??? grey car ------------------------------------------------ Maserati 250 F #2514 Maserati 4CL/CLT -> ?? Talbot-Lago T26 C #110007 -------------------------------------- Gordini -> Bugatti?? blue ----------------------------------- Talbot-Lago T26 C -> ?? Blue
The Bugatti, it's a 1932 Type 54 Grand Prix car châssis #54203 ex-Jean-Pierre Wimille & then Key Don (Kaye Ernest Donsky "Don")
So, the ones we have so far: Not much to list on the Brabham cars. The BT46B fancars are BT46/4 and BT46/6. I hope they leave England as he is selling them because of English taxes, only fitting!! Marcel, feel free to correct chassis numbers as you see fit. Most usually are. All I was looking for was the SPA winner chassis, was it 0010?. I think 010 is a 333SP? They do have the 36 valve debut correct.
