Image Unavailable, Please Login I recently purchased the replacement stalk from Dino Parts. Does anyone have a good technique for removing the olive shaped switch from the stalk without damaging it ?
How can I release the very old plastic retainer cap?

Please be more specific, show what you bought, and what is damaged in the switch?
These stalks are tricky for the uninitiated.

Hi, I believe that it is pressed onto the stalk.

I use a single edge razor blade to separate the olive shaped knob from the retainer.

The original internal cylinder is moulded onto the end of the old stalk, it may break if you try to remove it. It would probably be a good idea to purchase a new cylinder and install it with CA glue.

Thanks for that. I didn’t realize it was molded on. The Dino Parts website just shows the parts with no mention of how they go together.

No cake and eat it too, in Dinoland

Part sellers, do not often tell 100% of reality, then you are faced with a can of worms.

I had 4 sets of light stalk switches restored with Verell, and he can tell you a thing or two on how they are put together.
Vitaloni at its best. Who cares how long it lasts...

    Best of luck!
    Regards, Alberto

I’m hesitant to go the Verrell route due to reports of him being in poor health, etc.
I feel like if I mail him my parts I may never see them again

Try O.D.D. Parts in Sonoma CA. They did a great job repairing my turn signal assembly.
