I finished up my Atelier meeting yesterday. I had such a good experience with that process for the 812 GTS that I decided to run it back. The Ferrari Atelier team is terrific. Last time around it was virtual due to COVID nonsense. This time around, it was in person.

I am keeping my GTS which is Verde Abetone with a full leather Cuoio interior featuring Daytona Racing seats. It’s a very classic spec. My intention with the 12C is to steer in the opposite direction. I am targeting more “sport” than “classic” with the target being an almost an 812 Comp type spec. To that end, I want to go full alcantara on the inside versus leather. That will offer sufficient distinction versus what I already have.

From almost the beginning of this 12C journey, I have wanted Rosso 1000GP. It’s very close to Rosso Mugello, which is a flat dark red. I tried hard to talk myself into Mugello because it’s a standard paint with a cost of $14,000 versus a cost of $39,000 (I know…even by Ferrari standards that’s obnoxious). Ultimately, to my eye, I just like the Rosso 1000GP more, and it’s significantly more unique.

I am selecting the checkered style racing seats similar to a Comp except the carbon is exposed around the entire seat. I am going carbon exterior (except mirror caps and engine covers) and carbon interior (except parcel shelf, etc), painted shields, passenger display, HiFi, etc. I also selected the standard wheels Grigio Corsa Opaco versus the standard silver which I personally find too bright.

During my meeting, I found out that they want me to finish up my spec by Monday. This was a shocking development. I assumed I would have ample time for subsequent iterations. The plan is to submit for final review and approval to allow for a quick order cycle.

I am hung up on a couple items and I thought I might access the FChat brain trust of thoughts/opinions. I have already connected offline with several helpful members, and I always appreciate their assistance.

1). Leather steering wheel handgrips versus alcantara. The center of the wheel, dash, and the top of the doors all must be Nero leather. None of those leather areas can be swapped. Other than that, the entire interior will be alcantara except a Nero technical fabric headliner.

2). Yellow outline of the racing seats. The extra dash of yellow is certainly “sporty”, but is it too much yellow. I also have the new style headrest shield, plus yellow center stripe on steering wheel, yellow dreamlines on the pedal, and yellow stitch accents. Note, the seats look like gray stitching in the render, but they will be all black. They adjust render to simply highlight the checks.

3). Livery options. I have thought long and hard about selecting a livery which would probably help nudge it in the direction of sporty. I thought about a “ghost stripe” approach where I select an even darker red. Or perhaps a slightly lighter red. I would probably have to go flat as to not mix metallic stripe with flat base paint. Or I could go black livery.

    Here’s the original inspiration picture.

    A few thoughts.
Exterior, I greatly prefer Rosso 1000GP to Mugello, which I don’t like at all. But I’m not a fan of 1000GP. If you are going with for a Sport/812 Comp vibe, why not a brighter metallic color, like Rosso Magma?
I’d go with aluminum/silver calipers first choice, glossy black second choice.
    Looks like painted shields—Good!
I wouldn’t get CF engine parts, but would get the engine area in CF, even though not seen until clam shell is open.
Regarding interior, I would go for leather in wear areas. I don’t like shields on head rest. I would go with contrast stitched horse. Not new, but I think still the best choice.
I’m debating the block seats, but since car is modeled after Daytona, how does one not get Daytona slats? I would get contrast color slats, but not center stripe.
Have you considered the darker grey interior color rather than black? It would cut just a tad, the yellow/black contrast. I think the yellow interior dreamlines and the like are okay. I’d do CF parcel shelf areas.
I like the idea of exterior stripes, especially ghost stripe, but would need to see image to give an opionion.
Good luck! Get what looks best to you.

Ferrari does offer a beautiful King Ranch style interior that might be worth considering. It's a completely different look that what you've described, but would look gorgeous against the right red.

A “Heritage Mahagony Reddish Brown” (Ferrari's words) interior on a Lusso

I love that too, but that's a Tailor Made only interior. Atelier is in the same rooms at Ferrari New York but you can only pick the lines of "automotive" leathers or Alcantara brand. Heritage Leather is TM level.

I found that out when I showed up and told them I wanted Heritage or Poltrona Frau to make an interior just like that, and they had to apologize they couldn't.

That worn out look is at odds with the modern spaceship design and so Id say it isnt a good match

    My personal taste No offense

Exterior color question: The F80 press car looks nice in red I think it is a metallic.

Anyone know the name of the color? Would you consider that shade?

Rosso Supercar is that color. Unfortunately, it’s locked and cannot be spec’d on anything other than F80. Of course, that can, and likely will, change in the future, but I only have until Monday unless I want my slot to slide back. I did see a small sample of Rosso Supercar and it’s spectacular. And yes, it’s metallic with a superfine flakes.

I actually think it would be exciting to make it as much like a 1973 GTB/4 interior style as they could manage. With Tailor Made: instead of CF and cheap painted plastic bits, real brushed metal and chromed parts.

I love Rosso Magma. They had a SP3 in that color for me to check out. It was incredible. For some reason, I am drawn to flat paints. It’s kind of weird actually. I only own one car in a metallic paint…a Blu Nart Pista. All my other cars are flat paints, white/blue stripe 05 Ford GT, Nardo Gray GT3, Aetna Blue GT3, and Verde Abetone 812 GTS.

Fair points on the other thoughts. I am wanting to steer “sporty” hence the alcantara. Also, adding the dash of yellow veers it “sporty” too. Not everyone likes yellow calipers, most probably don’t, but it will by 3rd Ferrari set up like that. I’m definitely not getting engine covers in carbon. Total waste.

Here is the video again of what is thought to be Rosso California. To me this is one of the best reds...

I would go with the optional forged wheels which are bright. Not something you are looking for with your comments but the weight difference is a consideration.
Don't get anything that will reflect in the windshield like those stripes on the dash I see on some interiors.
With painted shields I think a livery would detract and distract but again that is just me. Quick turn around to jump back in Monday!

I love it. I wanted it on the 12C. Wonder how it compares to Magma.

Leather for the steering wheel grips and the horse for the headrests not shields. Not shields partly because they don't impart the detail of the paint shields and come across as a poor imitation. The headrest shields were used on the Alonso Edition 599. Yes, that long ago.
I like the comment about the Daytona style seats but the checker pattern is more like the F40 Prototype style seat design which has become very popular. The yellow piping is OK and gives a bit of contrast. Still like leather better for the headliner. Is matching luggage of any interest? One other detail is a Ferrari book detailing the line production of your Ferrari? A much bigger deal than the 3 pictures.
Or you could blow it up and get it painted Porsche Aubergine for a One of a Kind look. ;)

It’s spectacular and with a name like Rosso Supercar, it had better be. Magma is fantastic, Supercar is next level.

I did leather headliner in the 812 GTS. I think the Nera technical fabric will blend better with the Alcantara especially since the A pillars and B pillars are Alcantara. I asked about the picture book and was told it was a $5,000 option. That’s a level of depravity that not even I was willing to scale. And by the way, the standard production photos are supposed to include 3 photos, but I only received 2 with my 812 GTS. It’s been nearly a year since I took delivery.

I love that Porsche color. Perhaps if I can get a PTS 992 GT2 RS, I would do Aubergine!
