The Times of London reporting today BE might be having second thoughts and not selling them after all.
Doubtful after the huge press. THJ will probably be pissed if that happened, but apparently BE is a handshake is enough for a deal kind of guy. I’d say it’s nore probable he’s doing his thing to keep values high.
Obviously there's no chance this "reporting" is just "fake news" for free marketing publicity and he's going to keep them for the rest of his life?
We're all on borrowed time. All I ever knew about Bernie before now was how the motor press graded his work as head of F1. I'm grateful to THJ for sitting down with BE and doing so much to draw him out and give a chance to hear things from his perspective. I highly recommend the interview for those who haven't watched yet. Bernie has led a fascinating life up to this point. On a side note, after hearing how much Jochen Rindt meant to him, I did some further reading. I was fascinated to learn that the Essen Show, which is apparently now ending, was started by Rindt as a much more modest car show.
So has 312 F1 '66 #0010 got the number 6 bodywork from Scarfiotti's 312 F1 '66 36 valve engined 1966 Monza winner? As has been previously alluded to, Surtees never raced #0010 with the 36 valve engine as the car has today, and the number 6 on the Surtees #0010 winner at 1966 Spa Francorchamps had different fonts, and Bandini did not race it with the 36 valve engine with number 6, so it's all wrong with number 6, or is there some logical explanation? What was the chassis number of Scarfiotti's 312 F1 '66 1966 Monza winner? It does not say in Alan Henry's book Ferrari The Grand Prix Cars, but states the numbers of the other 1966 312 F1 cars. Not saying it's correct, but #0012 is stated as a different type of car on another web site. Scarfiotti Monza 1966 winner. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Number 10 stamped on spaghetti exhaust. 0010 was red book certified 14 March 2018 with certificate #110 GA. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car is NOT in dispute. Is there a race history for #0010 included in the Classiche Red Book? What does the Red Book say about the number 6 livery with the 36 valve engine?
Factory Red Book Certification lists Bandini in 0010 at Monza 1966 (DNF). Yes, races are listed in the red book for 0010 but just the date, name of race, name of driver and result. No race number. Marcel Massini
Thank you. Is the engine change documented in the Red Book? I presume also #0010 was certified/inspected and has pictures in the Red Book with the number 6 bodywork as it has today? Or is it pictured in the Red Book with a number it raced with having the 36 valve engine update?
The engine is described as the original one. No note of a change. No photo of the car with any race number. Marcel Massini
Perhaps they just changed the cylinder heads from 24 valve to 36, but in doing so, the engine tipo would change.
Interesting. I guessed the 24 valve engine/heads would be tipo 218. Here is an example of a tipo 218 cylinder block that changed to tipo 242. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is 0010. Engine and gearbox number. Red Book states not replaced. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
