It's convenient that whatever Russell said to Max to provoke him after the discussion with the stewards is left out of the media. I don't buy the innocent and he's just a bully we need to stand up to act. Max got the penalty, was provoked in a 1-on-1 discussion, and got an honest response in return. Russell threatened him with something and I guess we'll never know what to illicit that response from Max.
I think that’s a pretty solid analysis. There’s also a stark contrast between what Verstappen was able to do with the best car last year and what Norris was able to do with the best car this year. I think fans take note that Norris often did not capitalize and maximize, pun intended, his points. Regarding George, aside from when he was “Mr. Saturday” and initially keeping his mouth shut, there really isn’t that much that’s endearing. I haven’t forgotten how he went at Bottas after that crash, and he’s a loudmouth while trying to come across as an authority figure in the sport. He reminds me of the know-it-all new employee who shows up and wants to tell everyone who has already been there a decade what he or she knows. Verstappen, at least, appears to usually need some sort of catalyst before shooting his mouth back or acting out, and I feel he simply tells it as he sees it, for better or for worse. I think that resonates with a lot of people. I don’t like his aggression on track, but he seems more relatable than George, who just comes across as the stereotypical smug Brit. Norris comes across as much more likable.
Georgie hasn't yet received the memo that the woke ******** has faded out and the soyboy era is over. Max is way to brutally up front, he's unapologetic about the stuff he said. If he said to George he'd put him in the wall he'd have said so in public, too, probably among the lines of ''fighters talk''. But Max said it's blown way out of proportion. Given that George in the same breath said that Max said "I was going to let you by, but now I'll put you head first in the wall", leads me to believe it's a total fabricated lie. Max, letting someone by? PLEASE. George is a woke joke. Don't even get me started on Toto, either. That ballbag was practically on his knees in front of both Verstappens and willing to service them both in public and still got rejected, now he's trying to win back favor with George again and backs him fully...also saying that he backs the anti swearing campaign of the FIA, when just a few months ago he was 100% against it. He and Vasseur got done for swearing by the FIA recently, and did he forget about George tirade last week?
I'm glad you mentioned Toto. You're 100% right, he was on his knees begging for Max and pretty much disowned his own children (Lewis and George) by trying so hard to get him. Since Max has I guess rejected Toto, he's now back to supporting his drivers at whatever cost of logic. Shows what kind of two faced piece of trash he really is. I really hope Alonso tries to pass someone on a slow lap in Quali while he himself is on an outlap just to prove a point.
Did anyone see any post race interviews from the 2024 champion, Max Verstappen? You'd think getting some final thoughts from the champion would be a priority, especially when that driver had contact. Yet Sky Sports had nothing from him at all. At least I didn't see anything.
Maybe his team hurried him away since he was being a childish jerk on the radio. No need for him to say anything else to cause distractions with more FIA sanctions and bad press. All the best, Andrew.
What did he say on the radio? I heard the whining about 20 seconds but I wonder if commercials cut out some juicy radio messages.
We've had other drivers this season go bowling in T1 taking out multiple drivers and zero penalties, simply a wide array of inconsistent penalties. Pretty sure Max is alluding to that. Max didn't seem to move particularly late yesterday, got squeezed on the kerb and when he got on throttle a tad too early the contact happened with Piastri. I actually think the 2 penatly points is the craziest part of the penalty.
Unacceptable behavior from Max, regardless of what happenened. No need to try to rescue him......again.
I think they're factoring in his recent history at this point, which I think is fair. After the race he took ownership of the crash, apologized to Piastri, but then was critical of the penalty. At least he admitted fault, in a minimal way.
