I got a UPS shipping notification for DB Publishing coming out of Hodgkins, IL. That should be it. I will definitely know next week, when it is due to arrive... In the meantime, 36 sample pages can be seen here:

    https://online.flipbuilder.com/uhzw/gjxz/

Having flipped through them, I am hopeful. It looks to be a substantial book.

I pre-ordered it in early September. Didn’t receive confirmation of my order until I emailed them in early November. Glad they are fulfilling the orders on this book at least.

Mine should be the "free" copy from an Enzo Ferrari Publisher's Edition purchase last month.

With all due respect, I think that this book is crap. Tabloid standards.

I haven’t started it yet but it got good reviews. I’m sure it’s for a general audience. To be honest F1 gets more tabloid-worthy every season.;)

I'm waiting for Cotswold Road and Race to get his allocation of books.

Looking back over 2024 thankfully it was a pretty inexpensive year book buying wise as only a few worthwhile Ferrari books were released.

The only real stand outs this year have been Porter Press's Uovo and Millanta on Ferrari so far.

    I wasn't really sold on the Leman's 2023 499P book, A Red Fairytale.

Have I missed anything else Ferrari focused worth buying from this years releases?

I think Hortons are the distributor for David Bull publishing.

These days I buy most of my books through Andy.

Just makes more sense as living in Australia I wait for a few books to be released and then he sends them in one package to reduce my shipping costs.

He has access to pretty much everything.

I looked over my copy for about five minutes yesterday evening. The text is extensive and looks to be very well written and researched. Many of the photos I have seen before, however, what is there (quite a lot, actually) is well selected and well presented. Presumably, Coco Chinetti denied access to reproduce images or other documents he holds. The overall visual presentation might suffer a bit from that, but it still comes off way better than anything else previously available regarding Luigi Chinetti and/or NART.

I've spent about 15 minutes looking through it, and from my perspective it is pretty impressive. Most of us are somewhat familiar with Luigi Chinetti post-1949 le Mans and we(me) have a sketchy history of his earlier career. This really tells that remarkable story and the giants he worked with and competed against. His life in America in the 1940s and 1950s looks particularly interesting. Looking forward to reading it this weekend.

My copy of Ferrari in America arrived today. I was prepared to be disappointed as soon as I saw the box on the porch. It was obviously second hand, or worse, and nowhere near appropriate size and shape for the book, never mind not being up to rigidity required for the job. The “fragile” label didn’t afford any additional protection.

Inside, there was a wad of packing paper but only on one side of the box, and not enough of it to keep the book from moving around inside….the kiss of death. The result is a book with two corners badly bumped and two others to a lesser degree. So, the effort that went into shrink wrapping and bubble wrap wasn’t enough to overcome the indifferent packing and sad box.

I don’t let things like this pass with an, “Oh, well” and an eye roll any more, especially at well over $100. It really takes the shine off of the experience and it implies a disregard for the customer. I don’t know, but I suspect that DBP uses a fulfillment company to handle shipping. If so they’re not being well served. I’d hate to think that DBP itself would be responsible.

@Rosey can relax. My experience is that the lads at Cotswold know how to take care of the merchandise.

Jack, sorry to hear that your copy was poorly packaged. FWIW mine arrived in pristine condition, luck of the draw I guess?

Thanks, Bruce. It’s a shame. Every time I pick up that book I’ll see those bumped corners, but that’s just me. I have at least a couple of dozen of Bull’s books, most purchased directly, a few from the late Anita Elford and I don’t recall a bad experience.

You’d think that for the money they’d use a sturdy new box, not something that was flimsy to begin with and then previously used God knows how many times and for God knows what. There’s even a remnant of a previous UPS label on the box showing shipping in June, 2024!

Correct, I've been buying from Andy for years and his packages are literally bomb proof !
