This took place Tuesday at Fiorano with Carlos, his father and rally world champion Carlos Sr joined him in two 2021 Ferrari F1 cars. Both Frederic Vasseur and Charles Leclerc were in attendance, a very heartwarming occasion on Sainz's very last day at Ferrari.

To let him go? I agree. Sir Loulou may get some wins but I don't see his contribution amounting to more.
But for now in the spirit of Christmas after so much controversy and cynicism I prefer to focus on the joy of that beautiful occasion.

Clownworld indeed. It is hard to take Ferrari seriously when they take one of the best driver pairings, throw it out of the window for someone on the decline and for huge piles of cash.

Regardless of the public face put on it, or so-called “inside information” I think this is more Elkann’s decision than Vasseur’s.

Obviously !!! I don't think that Vasseur has the power to make such decision.

Perhaps decision is too strong a word. Maybe a better way to put it is that many were applauding Vasseur and opining that it was his mission to bring HAM into the team. I realize he could not have done it independently.

Oh, I'm sure that's the "media" story but for that amount of money, that's Elkann's decision. Toto tried but the higher ups at MercedesAMGF1 said no.....and that's because Toto has an invest with MercedesAMGF1 and he's worth over $250million USD.

We are talking about a $500M decision here !!!
The agreement goes well beyond driving for Ferrari, but has to do with Exor, which has nothing to do with Vasseur.
Basically, Elkan poached the Hamilton "image" from Mercedes.

Big mistake to let him go, but at least a class act for Ferrari on the way out.

The way they sent Carlos out reminds me of the ending of the movie "The Art of Racing in the Rain" where Denny gets to drive Enzo (the dog) around in a 250 TR as he joins Ferrari Driving Academy.
