You'd have to want to keep it forever, as if you drive it it’ll be pretty much sale-proof later.

    $200k max.

It's staggering to consider these buyers would walk straight past a 365 or 512 BB at 1/3 the price.

I think the people that buy Dinos are just not Ferrari people. They just buy it because it looks so nice. It's a vehicle that's easy to fix, parts a cheap, has some chrome and doesn't cost a bomb to run. Easy to drive too. And to most, exceptionally beautiful. Parked next to a suite of other cars, like a 280 SL and an RS 2.7 it would round out a manageable collection.

It’s not. It’s sale proof now at that asking price.

Considering 60k more will get you a 458 with not much more than 1/4 the mileage why would you buy it?

    Up to about 7/10ths yes.

On GAD roads a few years ago, long term 246 owner Kate invited me to drive her lovely, perfectly maintained, original fly yellow car. Literally a drive down memory lane for me.

After 15 minutes to get used to the awful driving position and uncomfortable seats, I was enjoying view between the front guards and the best induction noise of any Ferrari ever.

Then I went into a (dry road) corner a fraction faster and squeezed the accelerator a fraction earlier, the rear snapped and I was in a full lock correction. "I remember this too" I thought.

Any V12 FEHOS is a better handling car. 246 prices make no sense.

365 or 400 GT4 are fantastic fast touring cars.

    You lot are hilarious.

Whom cares what any OHOS actually drives like? They’re all ****-boxes compared to anything modern.

The only reason anyone would buy any OHOS is because they look wonderful (and a lot of them do).

246 looks incredibly beautiful. Nothing else matters. Hence the price.

Makes more sense to me than some ugly Daytona.

Moderns might be more comfortable, but they are generally less involving to drive (a Lotus Emira being a possible exception).

Good carby cars have immediate throttle response, more communicative steering and chassis feel and zero electronic nannies. Flappy paddle cars in particular require zero driver skill, you just point the wheel where you want to go and computers do the rest.

But why am I wasting my time - anyone who calls a Daytona ugly is beyond help.

I'm 99% certain that's Gerry D's old car. He bought it from a Paramatta road dealer in a shabby state then restored it in red. Current owner bought it circa 1989 and later had Cavallino restore it, once again with an incorrect interior. I also don't remember it having magnesium valve covers.
