Should have dropped this here… Lagavulin. Offerman Edition. I’ve had a couple on my shelf for a while. It’s ok, I’d rather have the 16yo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I bought this last week, but only because a place just opened and had a $40 off coupon for orders over $100.... Have not tried it yet.
This seems to be the popular bottle. Santa had it under the tree. Are they flooding the market while making it seem to be limited availability? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Always bet on red, or is it black? Red in sherry, oloroso casks, from southern Spain, and black in bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Woodford Reserve. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Local shop got a couple for me. One more order coming in Friday then done for a while. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Scotland's smallest distillery. Or at least it was when I visited with my dad 33 years ago. Good memories, and a fine wee dram.
Three years ago my wife Judith and I visited the village of Pitlochry. She decided to walk through the fields to visit the Pitlochry distillery, bringing back a couple of bottles. It is an incredibly tiny stone building nestled in a pocket glen with a total of two still masters producing a splendid whisky.
291 small batch 100 proof in an old fashion. it has a bite. also had Woodford rye old fashion. 90 proof. very smooth.
I've not had 14 or 15 but truth be told compared to the 12, I'm a 12 man all day. Don't get me wrong, the 18 is fantastic. But the 12 is *SO* easy to find, and a fraction of the price of the 18, so for an everyday 12 all the way. for a once-in-a-while or "friends came over and we're catching up by the campfire" the 18 is a fantastic pour.
Gorgeous day today. Went for a ride. Took a backpack subconsciously. Ended up being a good call. My local had a delivery today and my favorite purveyor of all things distilled held a few in reserve in case I wanted them. Obviously I wanted all of them. She's a huge OF nerd so I popped it and let her have the neck pour (I waited til I got home since I was on 2 wheels). She was very pleased as was I, and it's a good improvement from last year's. At 80ish the 2024 would have been excellent. Maybe a bit of the "exclusivity" bug biting with the MSRP where it was. This year's is priced the same, but frankly a lot better. The bubble gum and slight medicinal twinge (only up front, it went away quickly) from 2024 are gone. Just a really good 10-year pour. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bit of a heavy pour to drop the 1792 12-year as well but five kills looks so much cooler than four. Image Unavailable, Please Login Is this how you do dry January? Dry out some bottles?
WR Double Double was disappointing to me. Nowhere near worth the $200 imo. With the bourbon market collapsing you can get so many better bottles for that much or less.
What are some current Bourbons that are buyable again at retail that you would recommend in the $250-1,000 range? Thanks!
