    I agree, if you have already gotten crushed then just drive and enjoy it. There isn't anything else out there in that performance or price range which is why I am surprised so many are for sale. In regards to getting an XX, we all know it take a lot more than just an SF90 so they were over promised or false hopes. It sounds like you have a good dealer, mine is inept which has lead me to cancel 2 of my 3 orders and there is a good chance I cancel my Puro because they keep missing dates.

    What's interesting is they are now finally regretting their ways because the flippers they catered to cant buy cars anymore. The new cars they ordered are piling up and the real buyers (like me) are so annoyed we have moved on. There are real ballers that are customers, better customers than myself but I could have been close if they showed some effort. The last time I was there I thanked them for saving me a **** ton of money, it didnt go over so well.

    A nearly new GT3RS just sold for a little over sticker on BAT. Things are moving quickly. It appears too many people lined up to buy too many cars… Is the game over?

    Are you referring to the 2019 that sold for 50k over or the 2024 that sold for 110k over? Didn’t see a new one selling for a little over msrp.

    No. The last 1300 mile 2024 GT3 RS Weissach only got bid to $341k. I thought it sold but it did not meet reserve. Where did the demand go?

    I think we will see more softening.Maybe pure ice cars may hold a bit better or even rise in price , vs hybrids or electric!

    It appears Porsche is going to continue making combustion engine cars for much longer. They also have begun shifting their production to the more expensive variants. GT3’s may be relatively common. Interesting times.

    Each iteration of the European ICE cars appear to be getting quieter and more muted.

    When rarer and more desirable cars come along, such as 812 Comp, XX, F80 etc. Both Ferrari and your dealer take a look at what’s in your garage among other things. They are looking for your full support of the brand. This seems to make some sense to me. When SF90 was launched, I immediately knew I would like one to use.

    As far as I know the warranty is good on the hybrids, with a special battery warranty that protects into the long term. Motion batteries don’t usually fail as they get old, they bleed away storage - maybe 20% every 10 years. This doesn’t seem to me to be a significant problem for a hybrid supercar. And this year, our Roma Spider dash went dark driving around Italy so at least that problem is not unique to the hybrids.

    I imagine it’s frustrating to have to deal with dealers who can’t work out the flippers from the proper people. I think the dealer plays a big part in your experience of the brand. Fortunately ours is really good. Part of a large group but with really good people. We don’t get everything we want but they explain everything and I have got to know the other customers, who also seem a decent bunch. That is also more significant than you might imagine.

    This will definitely be interesting. Porsche have been even harder than Ferrari to get supply from, mainly because their list is so long I suppose. It makes sense for them to continue to supply the expensive stuff. I think they figure it will still be possible into the future to supply rare and expensive cars using e-fuel, which itself is expensive but accepted by the EU as zero emission. Interesting the 992.2 GT3 is virtually as expensive as the last RS once spec’d up and you can order it with Weissach pack for the first time. I would expect other ultra expensive options for the 992.2 RS so they can maximise profit per unit.

    What’s really interesting is that with a higher price and a weaker economy, what do the flippers do? My guess is they exit stage left. Which means that Porsche might struggle for enough demand to meet the supply they will need to justify production. Fascinating scenario. Maybe those with deep pockets and a desire to own a GTx will finally be able to do it without delving into an inflated secondary market. Porsche is about to get expensive, higher performance and maybe more attractive to some buyers who seem to be leaving a certain other famous brand.

    The noise regulations will mean Porsche have to deliver more performance with less noise. That leaves something for everyone - the old cars retain value, the new cars gain speed. I would say for most Porsche owners that is just about perfect.

    It’s funny, the advent of EV - something petrolheads have long bemoaned - looks likely to solve another problem they have also moaned about, namely that the best products should be supplied to the people who want to use them not flip them.

    When I was growing up in the 1980s and 90s, there was always talk about the “golden era” of cars. This was largely considered to be late 50s-early 70s. Well, my friends, we just came out of another golden era: roughly 2004-2019. You could probably find some outliers that are +/- a few years. All the stars aligned for us to have cars that were about NA engines with ever expanding power and better and better reliability, and somehow figuring out how to merge great style with the ever more onerous safety regulations. Yet, the regulations kept going, and the governing bodies around the world kept making it more and more difficult and we are now back to our modern version of the mid 1970s. There will be some interesting cars in this new period, but most will be more or less forgettable. It’s a shame, but thats where we are. How long will it take for the stars align again? I have no idea, it could be as short as tomorrow, or as long as forever. Some of this veers into a little P&R so my apologies, but my own guess is the west is slowly awaking up to the realization that it was about to give away the store and thus will likely start to make changes.

    Thats part 1: the cars of today, as a general rule, are no where near as endearing as the ones that came just 10 years ago- and the ones from 10 years ago are sufficiently modern enough to run today.

    Part 2: The high end companies, from whom we love their cars, have really turned the cars into products and found ways to even better, and more efficiently monetize our passion. Nothing kills an emotion faster than cold, hard, reality. For a long time now, your money was very safe in one of these cars. Well, the companies got too good, but that also means reality has come a lot faster to the enthusiasts, and thus, you now see that in the market. Takeaway is deprecation is a real thing again.

    Part 3: Conclusion: yes, the old game is up. Covid basically pushed it several years past its original due date. But, now, it’s truly done. However, the world has not yet ended on our car hobby….. this is a case of The King is Dead/ Long Live the King….. This did happen in the past also. And guess what, the companies survived and so did the people who bought the cars. And they will probably survive this because the brands are all strong. Even though there were plenty of collectors who, at the time, lamented the then “plastic” Ferraris in the form of the 308 and 512 as compared to their beloved 250 models; Ferrari found new buyers, and they will find new buyers for these new models. We will complain that the cars dont sound like the old cars, they dont drive like the old cars, and they don’t look like the old cars. They will find a new generation that the new cars are so exciting and inspiring, and we will say it’s sad that they don’t like the cars from just 10 years ago as much. By the way, have you heard the music they like? Or the movies?!

    My point is this is generational, and the cars most of us are probably really loving, deep in our hearts, the screaming engines of the 458s and F12s and LaFerrari, those models were the perfection of an era. It’s a new era, like it or not, it’s just how it is. A new era means a bit of a bumpy ride when it comes to values because the secondary market is usually made up of enthusiasts who are very focused on wanting more of what they already know, not something new. I think in the long run we will look back at cars like the SF90 and 296 as the kind of 512 and 308 of our time. Today, the 308 and 512 are beloved as classic icons, but, back in the day it was controversial and lots of people lost money on them.

    For me, seeing the sheer enormity of the money, and the rate it has poured into the collector and sports car world is both an affirmation but also a real bummer. It should be first and foremost about the passion. Whether thats for a beautiful car, or one that has the finest ICE or you just like to go fast, or whatever captures your imagination.

    The best car buying advice I ever heard was buy what you love and can afford.

    Agree.- 100k over msrp maybe more PTS.
    Ordered Ruby knowing if I sell it - never be able to replace it.
    People spec to sell or keep - no middle ground. The one who spec to keep and later decide to sell are the ones that are harder to sell - very specific to owner vs the brand.

    Next gen batteries (lighter, more powerful, faster charging and safer [no runaway burning] ) in 5(?) years will make ALL current battery/hybrid cars obsolete. ;) Prices will crater.

    To be fair, they’ve said that since the first Tesla arrived. It hasn’t happened yet. In terms of battery chemistry in commercially deployable batteries, I am not aware of anything truly ground breaking since the 1990s when they began to figureout how to scale up LiON batteries. They’ve been talking about solid state batteries for probably a decade now, where are all the cars featuring this technology?

    However, lets imagine you are correct, and lets say the next gen batteries arrive in 5 years. In the case of Ferrari hybrids, that means these batteries likely are in whatever replaces the replacements to the SF90 and 296. How much of an improvement will there be? The SF90 weighs about 3900lbs and the 296 weighs about 3600lbs. Supposing those numbers were 200lbs lighter for each car, I doubt that would radically transform how each car drives.

    Ferraris tender plugs into a normal wall socket, so it’s not a matter of fast charging or not, etc. As for the existing cars, all parts will be aging, and the question comes back to warranty coverage.

    It's a new dealer - friend got XX with SF90 / F8. The factory grades / rates people on a host of things,
    I did not think there would be a model after SF90 AF Spider - XX was a surprise that I don't think anyone saw coming.
    Many dealers are sold out on every model for years - only thing I heard nationally a little slow is 296 coupes - otherwise sold out on all models, they can easily close books but I am guessing if they are told you can have 296VS - they will order 296GTB.

    End of the day - young adults are into battery tech vs grease mechanic.
    Expect knock off batteries - maybe slightly better / less expensive,
    Companies buying electric - building electric / nuclear plants know the demand far exceeds supply.
    Ordered Tesla truck - third battery was under 10k. No one will care if it's a "Ferrari" battery vs ABC for 5000.00 vs 100,000.00 - will be like tires and every other commodity.
    Batteries will be an interchangeable / rebuildable cog - individual cells modules are replaced without disposing of the whole battery. Battery repair is in infancy, lots of independent shops are killing it working on batteries - they will pop up everywhere add Firestone and other retailers adding hybrid service.

    Thats an interesting point about the batteries being viewed like tires, if the costs come down enough, and as long as a company such as Ferrari can deliver something unique to the experience, I could see it happening.

    Tesla battery is 10k - shops are replacing and or rebuilding for 1-2k. The battery thing is way over thought and today / or at time of warranty expires it will be proven. Everyone and their disposable / battery issues - no offense is wrong, or let them show some examples besides thoughts.
    These rebuilders / replacement shops are performing battery changes are done while you wait in a room. Core or rebuild repair etc done while you wait.
