Great that you had the opportunity for a customized hypercar. You will make out financially as the LaF is worth more now and so will the F80 after the purchase. Probably drives like stink unfortunately no sound. The Special, however, was highly argued here as guaranteed to appreciate due to the last NA V8 thing when it was announced. Even though it is not a limited VS, except the Special A, it did indeed appreciated as argued.

For sure Lukeylikey does not need an attorney, but talking like this to one of the most esteemed and polite members of this forum is unwarranted, to say the least.

I'm not sure that there's a generation that (a) loves performance cars and (b) doesn't care about sound. Some individuals may fall in that camp, but not whole generations.

I am certain, however, that some people - and perhaps some generations - can look past an uninspiring soundtrack if they like the other things a car has to offer. (I'm not one of them, but I get it.)

Provided that it is eventually appreciated. Only time will tell.

I completely disagree. There are plenty of iconic cars that recieved lukewarm receptions, and the F80 may follow in their footsteps.

But a mixed reception is hardly requisite. Plenty of iconic cars were well-recieved at launch. The buzz around LaF, 918 and P1, for example was off the charts! And I wouldn't call any of them "junk food" (to quote @jpalmito).

    Aren't hypercars beautiful?
Maybe for some but for the man who designed the last two at least one of them represents beauty.
Flavio Manzoni about the LaFerrari: "The design of this car is as if it were sculpted by the air, but actually has an intimate relationship with aerodynamics aesthetic beauty". However, about the F80 FM synthesized "It was absolutely clear to me and my team that we wanted to do something absolutely futuristic and disruptive".
The LaFerrari and the F80 are certainly not Beauty and the Beast but IMMO the former is a much more beautiful car than the later.

This one is going to take some getting used to... but so was the Enzo. And so was the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. How did that work out for them?

To me, I'm not a fan right now aesthetically. But technically? Absolutely.

By your own admission you are a middle aged man, in his 40s, and you still haven't understood that beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Same goes for the one(s) who liked your post and who try to convince others that they shouldn't like what they like...

Most definitely. With some time and more exposure in the wild I'm sure more eyes will adjust to the design.
I will say I was a bit surprised at all the backlash over the shape and style when I see it as this generation's F40, which I thought was universally loved.

You may see it as this generation's F40 by concept if you wish (a stretch IMO), but never by shape or style. A couple details cannot compare to the brute beauty of the F40. You cannot expect many to like it just because someone said "F40", so don't be surprised...

The F40 was not universally loved upon its release and there are still people today who don’t love it…. Time will provide answers.

This is often true of art in general. People are uncomfortable with "the new". But its not always that way. The 65 Mustang was universally praised, and still is today. And just being different doesn't mean it will be considered beautiful one day. Look at the Ami 6!

For me the rear is OK but the front is really terrible. That's just a useless opinion though, since I don't have the first euro / dollar / bitcoin to buy one ;)

This doesn’t stand up to the name. The side front panels just don’t look like the belong. For 3 million ply they need to do better im Sorry. This is t even attractive might be super fast but heck all we got to go for is looks because y can’t use there speed

I'm sure it performs amazingly well but it seriously ugly. I much prefer the McLaren W1.

    Víctor H. Moreno ·
The ugliest Ferrari in history. Ferrari needs help from Pininfarina.

    Francois Wintermans
They really should skip the black on the front, and painted it red.

    Miloš Vasin
    The F80 definitely isn't a pretty car.

    Nick Smith
This was a big mistake in the styling department. Yuck

    Kenneth Graham
They tried to incorporate a flavour of the F40 side section wing.
Where the Ferrari emblem is but it’s too straight and doesn’t look as good as the F40.
The F80 is not easy on the eye at all.

Sorry but anyone prepared to say the W1 looks better than the F80, as divisive as it is, needs eye surgery.

The part I find most challenging about the design is the way the front fender seems squared off. The rear and side look spectacular, I also don't mind the black strip between the headlights, and the car looks way better on video than it does in photo.
