F12 is now the right time to buy?

I think that’s the exception to the rule- based on most of the comments of those that upgraded.

I found the steering weaker on the F12. In fact the weakest part of the car was the poor steering feedback. To each his own.

I like your thought process

 

Finding the right F12 is not easy. I have been looking for months, and the BaT auction was one of the few rare well kept examples. I say if you find a good spec, hop on it before its too late.

Agree, if you find a good spec grab it not many around. I flew on Thanksgiving to see and buy this puppy.

this is exactly my feeling. there are certain levels of advancement which are very large such as the 599 to F12 then there are more minor advances such as F12 to 812 to 12 cilindri.

the sweet spot between too rough and raw and just enough modern tech is between 599 and F12. same could be said for the F430 and 458.

 

Less and less for sale. The F12 was always destined for greatness and with increasing numbers being identified as ‘keepers’ it’s already happening.

 

I really wanted to like the 812. And I tried. But never could get there on the looks. And the 4WS yields awkward feel/weight transfer in curves. F12 solves both these issues - beautifully!

 

One with 600 miles just went for $328,000 on bat. These cars are going to appreciate greatly as the last before Ferrari went public and changed to in house design

 

I agree. It’s like the 458 and the 488. The 458 is the better looking car even if it’s not the faster. Abd the values have crushed the 489

 

458 and 488 looks are subjective. IMO, the 488 is a FAR better looking car than the 458.
Also, the values of the 488/458 are obscured through the traditional valuation curves of Ferrari. I wouldn’t put too much on the current values. I would look at a truer comparison once the 458/488/F8 series is 20 years old. IMO you will see the 488 pull away from the rest

As far as the F12, I am a huge fan and a White/Black with red or Black calipers and white tack with white striped gold raked race seats would be my choice

 

I can tell you from experience that buying a F12 just the way you want it is very difficult. When I was selecting my F12 I had to compromise on some things I wanted to get the price and condition I was looking for. Many of them on the market now have 15,000 to 17,000 miles. I wanted one with less miles so I had to compromise on my wish list but got the color and seats I wanted. Had to get black rims instead of silver. I love the car. A real thrilling experience to drive. I loved driving the 488 also but it is too tight for comfort for me with no way to have enough headroom for a helmet for the track. I’m 6’2”

What kind of spec were you looking for?

super important on my list was the JBL sound system and XM radio after listening to the stock sound system at the dealer. Now that I have the car I never use the radio. I just listen to the V12 music

 

Wow 4 years and I thought my two months was long. I missed out on a car after going back and forth, it was yellow and looked amazing until I could Bianco Italia. After missing one I took advantage and got 90% of what I wanted. Didn’t have race seats which are in my speedster and my wife hates them so it all worked out, and I do enjoy the comfort as it’s not a track car.

Someone picked this up because I didn’t call back on a Monday and called Tuesday

I had the same experience two times. Both happened at my local Ferrari Dealer Miller Motorcars. The first one was a beautiful dark grey that hit all the boxes. I called to inquire about the car and made an appointment to see the car the next day and it was sold by the time I got there. The second time they called me as a beautiful dark red one had come in that was really mint. I went to test drive it the same day. Loved the car and told them I would take the night to think it over and call them back the next day as it was closing time. Also sold. This tells me that reasonably priced F12 with low miles are in high demand. The selling time on some of the higher mike cars and ones with limited options can be a very long time. There is a black 2017 on the market with 1,700 miles that has not sold for over two years as it has literally almost no options. My takeaway is that prospective F12 owners are more mature, know what they want and are willing to wait to find the right one. It seems like the Ferrari dealers sell these a little quicker as they can offer a two year CPO that my dealer was throwing in. They have not had any more F12 inventory since then. It can be a frustrating experience but well worth it the moment you step on the go pedal and feel this machine come alive

 

Yeah, sometimes you have to jump and go and mine had CPO which helps knowing you have a sound car. Low specs are hard to sell as they’re missing what most buyers want, and very high specs sellers want a premium which drives rate back and forth. My spec was 457k and we went around for awhile and I by passed the sales guy and spoke to the owner we had a deal in 5 minutes and split the difference. After the deal we became friends as we’re both car guys, and it was never about the money at this price point vs the deal making and feeling good about the deal. I still love the yellow it pops, but I absolutely love Bianco

 

I was checking Autotrader daily for 4 yrs before mine popped. I called same day it listed, had deposit on it during 1st call, and closed on it next day. For well-spec'd, low-mile F12's, time is of the essence. Moral of the story: If you even "think" you may want it, get a deposit on it, immediately. Even if deposit is non-refundable, I'd rather be at "risk" of losing 5 grand than at risk of losing a car that I love and will likely enjoy the rest of my life.
