Facebook experts apparenty, though in fairness the F80 is probably the most controversial design since the Enzo, which I remember was widely lambasted as being ugly and remains so for some.
Before leaving Ferrari in 2021, chief technology officer Michael Leiters said “we understand the importance of getting sound right. "Customers care a lot about it" "Sound is one of the most important reasons to buy a car and to enjoy the car. We are always surprised how appreciative and how demanding our customers are regarding the sound. It’s a focus in development." What the inferior sound of the Ferrari F80 shows us is that both in this model and in other more recent hybrids, Ferrari has stopped getting the sound right. It is known that even under equal circumstances the V8 and V6 turbos would never be able to compete with the NA V8 and V12 in terms of sound. However, the strict Euro 6e-bis emissions standards, which the F80 adheres to, transformed the sound of its V6 turbo engine into something that no longer has anything to do with the sound that has always characterized Ferraris. But for those who will pay around 4 million to have the current fastest road Ferrari ever but which sounds boring and not much like a Ferrari, there is still a ray of hope as it is possible to improve its sound. Below is the link to a video that is an exhaust masterclass and in which is explained the importance that manifolds, catalysts, GPF, X-pipe, central extension and silencer valves have on the sound of a Ferrari.
lets face the reality though, the hypercars are mostly investments to people and the chance of them modifying them is slim (Japan being an exception as they appear to drive their cars there and don't mind modifying them for a greater experience)
That's fair to say as there's quite a bit of 512 M mixed in there as well. I meant it more so in the sense of if it came out today using Ferrari's current design language. I wonder if this was presented as an icona series instead perhaps it wouldn't of been received so poorly by the public? Sorry, I meant universally loved now, not upon it's release. Honestly saying universally was still a stretch by me as there will always be at least a few who don't like it. Like you said, time will tell. The SP3 is a great recent example. It seemed 50/50 at first, but it looks like many are coming around to it especially after the unveiling of the F80.
Must say that I was in group people which liked F80 but after more and more time I am not sure if this is right vision of Ferrari hypercar. I not saw it live so cant judge but V6 have no sound, some design elements like that nonsensical front black part which is ugly for me and also front lights totaly destroy all front design and yes I cant afford it but almost 4 mil eur for all this package ? By me its very big disapoitment....if must choose today, definitely SP3 I took every single day instead F80. By me SP3 looks amazing, it have V12, carbon tub and sound is perfect. Of course just my opinion. Pictures of that SP3 are mine Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
One need not be an "expert" to determine whether or not something is aesthetically pleasing to oneself.
And I agree with the quote in your footer: "design:it's important." That's ONE of the reasons the F80 is a fail.
Speaking of design, my '70 TA at GM Design Center. I digress, with apologies for off-topic. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is this a joke? What even is that nonsense.. Has this whole forum completely turned into a clown show...
Super ugly car, terrible powertrain, terrible chassis, terrible aero, very heavy, terrible ergonomics. terrible perf0rmance.. Shall i go on? .. Lets keep this old junk out of Ferrari F80 threads..
As often as you change your mind on design, I'll take your Pontiac Trans Am "critique" with a grain of salt. On Oct 17th, you said you hated Roma, 296, SF90, 12C, F80 and SP3, and Purosangue is the "worst looking thing Ferrari have ever produced by a long way," per Post #11: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/how-do-you-feel-about-ferraris-recent-designs.698655/#post-149856688
Once i saw the F80 i changed my mind. Have you seen it? Is it okey for me to change my mind? Or do you want to rule over that as well? This place will all love the F80 once they have seen it in real... But the question is, why are you posting American dogshit crap in a Ferrari F80 forum.. It's honestly embarrassing.
I’m sorry but I don’t believe there’s any call to respond in that tone or manner. You made your point.
Just because you "believe you are offended" doesn't mean you are right. Hey, lets all post pictures of terrible cars that are not Ferrari or from Italy in this forum and make out they are better and more desirable than the F80!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login I find it very strange that the F80 forums are still full of people that hate the car..
so is it not okay for Ferrari enthusiasts to also be enthusiastic about other cars? And exactly how many times do you need to say that you aren’t a fan of F80? Certainly okay to have that opinion but is it not okay for others to feel differently?
Their is other forums (and sites) for other cars.... What he posted has nothing to with Ferrari or the F80...
There are several examples of F40s, F50s and Enzos where the owners changed the exhaust and I don't think this has affected the value of the cars. The F80 will certainly represent an investment for owners but the future will tell whether it will be better or worse than happened with its predecessors. However, it doesn't seem to me that the fact that someone changes the exhaust system, keeping the original, could have any significant influence on the future value of the car. Rich owners, who think that they are above rules and regulations, should think that there is also the MOT check every year, or so.
