Sorry but perhaps my question wasn’t clear enough.
I was hoping to learn if you or someone else here knows what exactly is the difference between “ultra light” and “production car” frame tubes during early days, i.e. late-‘40s/early-‘50s ?
Are “ultra light” frame tubes made of thinner wall tubing and if yes, how much thinner ?
Are they both made of seamed or seamless, DOM tubing ?
    Chrome-Moly or mild steel ?
    Etc… ?

I like it's appearance much better in the earlier photos, they look natural, unlike the too shiny recent ones.

Jane drove it to drop young Rob off at school. A remarkable woman, and a terrific family.

Your hero, Sig. Medardo Fantuzzi, a true artist.
I also like the simple door shield.

25 years ago, Ferrari Market Letter dated 29 January 2000, Volume 25 Number 2, contained my four page article about Carrozzeria Fantuzzi.

I have been mesmerized by the 'simple' shapes, elegance, and absolute perfection of his sports racing bodies for Il Commendatore (bonus points for a Chiti nostril nose) since forever.

    Marcel, that's so funny.
    SO DO I(!).
In my haste to view the photo, I read your first line of text and didn't even notice this remark until after I'd spotted the Fantuzzi shield and blown it up on my laptop- discovering it 'on my own' before realizing you had pointed it out.

As impressive as the engines and engineering are on the old horses, the hand-built nature of their bodies is one of the aspects that I find most remarkable about vintage Ferraris.
I am always appreciative of @Aardy and others when they illustrate restoration deviations on original bodies.
There is something fascinating about, for example, producing (341) 275 GTB/4 'production' cars with the knowledge that measuring side to side (or car to car) may very well yield differing numbers.

The last of the Old Masters.

This comment is not about Fantuzzi, but we are redoing our 250 Mille Miglia and have found the left side door is 1/2" shorter than the right side door.

Thanks for sharing this, Dyke. This speaks to the broader point I was making about the old horses- citing Scagliettii in my example-
vintage Ferraris are hand-crafted works of art. :)

A long time ago, a friend wanted to restore a Maserati Mistral. One door was badly damaged and he found a replacement. When he tried to mount it, he saw that it was 3 (!) cm longer. He sold the Maserati...
