I take it you never speed? Or jaywalk?

On the spectrum from jaywalking to Mad Max dystopia, I'd put exhaust mods by a few petrol heads pretty close to the former.

Bribing emissions inspectors is certainly a bridge too far. (Again, that was suggested by our friend Johnny. Not to be extrapolated.)

The problem is that a 90 XX offers the same performance for 3 times cheaper at something ready... This is the limit of basing the entirety of a car on power, to the detriment of emotion. And I'm willing to bet that very few will keep this car and that its rating will be much lower than the other 4...

Exactly, the SF 90xx costs between a third and a quarter of what the F80 will cost. But what does the F80 offer more for a price that is $2.1 to $2.5 million higher? The same muffled uninteresting sound and an even a more controversial design. However, it offers a performance that is 2 seconds less in terms of Fiorano lap time, but let's face it, charging more than $1 million for every second gained borders on extortion.

I mean harris absolutely melted when driving the F40 and F50. So not that weird. He didn't like the sf90. Nor did EVO mag.
I'm pretty sure that Clarkson, as much as he can be a buffoon, drives better than 90% of owners. He did make a living driving on the track. While that doesn't make him a race car driver, it makes him more qualified than 90% of the owners who only drive their stradale or 812 to Starbucks. So I give his opinion more relevance than a lot of regular owners. I have been lucky to drive a bunch of Ferraris on and off the track and I'd have no issue saying he is more qualified than I am.

Seems like the 12ci isn't well received either so far from the few reviews I have read/watched.

It's ok to realize the brand isn't the same, even as die hard fan boy as we all are.

12C worries me. Taking away sports car traits for GT touring aspect for me is like removing the spice from the dish.

SF90 is failure in my view as a driver perspective. If the car drives great with every system is off, the car has a great natural balance thus a better driver's car for me. SF90 don't want you to turn off everything off so the system is still on even with esc is off. This is why Harris didn't like the first car. He suspected second car Ferrari provided somehow had no or less intervention from the system when he attempt to slide.
One can also see the system is intervening because the traction control icon flashes even with esc off when car starts to slide over the angle system allows.

If F80 does have the same front motor traction control logic as SF90, then I have a problem....
It means I can not slide the car the way I want. Major let down.

296 is better car without front motor. It slides with no issue of system cutting off my input.

I wish F80's front motor logic is tied with throttle input so that the more you put power pedal down, less or no torque vectoring happens so that slide junky like me can burn the rear so fast you need a new set right after one lap lol

    Wishful thinking...

The cost difference is because it’s the limited edition halo car in that series. Collectors aren’t buying it for the lap time

The exclusivity of the F80 is exactly the same as the SF 90 xx. Only 799 units of each of these two models will be manufactured.

We have an XX spider, even rarer. But the F80 is the more interesting car and it isn’t even close. It is the pinnacle of what Ferrari can do in terms of a road car and you can feel it all over the car. I hope the XX will be a great car but it won’t be ‘greater’.

I meant in terms of those that want the "complete" collection of 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, F80........ all the other limited cars are not at that top level unless you're talking about a 1962 250 GTO or something else from that era.

I wonder how Rimac/Pininfarina does it. By all accounts it is supposed to handle naturally, even if it is heavy.

Rimac has option of turning off front motor completely and make car RWD I believe.

I hope Ferrari does the same with esc off. I once tried to slide SF90 when battery was Zero and it was ‘beautiful’.

If we just look at the price, the SF90xx seems to be a kind of "poor man's" F80 as it is very similar but costs between three and four times less. However, when comparing the performance of the SF 90xx with that of the F80, it is when we realize that its price is a real bargain as there is little that differentiates it from its much more expensive younger brother.
In terms of exclusivity, the two models are the same, each with only 799 units to be built. Also in terms of sound, both the F80 and the SF90 xx are similar with a muffled and not very interesting sound.
    So, what sets them apart?
The F80 is a little quicker, about 2 seconds off Fiorano's lap time however, in terms of design, the SF 90xx, although it is faraway from the level of a LaFerrari, looks to me more cohesive than the F80.

Once again, that is a personal opinion. As others have said, loud sounds get tiring (even dangerous) after a while.

What you are forgetting is that all this weight is required for this level of technology to be implemented. Otherwise you end up with a GMA T50; a pure but not very quick car.

Guilty as charged, but this is just a momentarily event (for which I will accept the punishment) and not a constant situation, changing the specifications of a mandated product.

More like 4 times cheaper, but a 2 second difference on such and twisty a short track is huge!!! Provided of course that the 1.15'' time is confirmed.

Personally I didn't care much for it. Laggy engine response, recalcitrant gearbox, understeery on corner entry, violently oversteery on exit, and the less we say about the brakes, the better... Granted, it must have been something else back in 1987, but this is 2025...

As far as I understand, the SF90 and the F80 are not meant to be drift cars. I am also hearing that F1 cars are pretty bad at drifting too...

I am sure you are familiar with the law of the diminishing returns. A 2'' difference at a small circuit is something that a racing team would spend tens of millions to achieve.

It’s a comparison that only works on paper. Like staying at the London Intercontinental v The Ritz. Both 5-star hotels, both within a 5 minute walk from each other, both offer similar sized rooms. But they are very different for a world of reasons.

The F80’s tech is far ahead of XX, which is based on a ‘mass-produced’ platform. There’s no denying the SF90 is a remarkable achievement, something I and other owners have said here many times. But when you sit in, stand next to, look at the naked chassis and listen to what they have done to produce the F80, it is The Ritz to the XX’s Intercontinental.

Indeed. I was merely making the point that it's a perfectly reasonable and not-uncommon opinion.

    Again, loud is your word.

I won't take the bait on dangerous.

So, speeding is OK because it's episodic, but exhaust mods put us on the verge of Mad Max dystopia. Got it.

@MDEL, I'm not sure the comparison even works on paper. ;)

You or I might prefer the SF90XX styling or powertrain or whatever. One might prefer the F80, but not think it's worth the (significantly) higher price. But the two cars are different animals.

I also agree with @REALZEUS on this one - unless they pulled some shenanigans with the tires, two seconds around Fiorano is a significant difference. How much those two seconds matter to you is another question.

It is not totally relevant, but I have a permanent hearing loss in my left ear, due to the many hundreds of 105 mm and 120mm rounds that I have fired as a tank commander (the breach of the gun is on your left), even though I was wearing protective earphones. Funny thing, the many thousands of rounds I have fired with machine guns, combat rifles, assault rifles and pistols don't seem to have affected my right ear (I am right-handed, so I used these weapons near my right ear). Then again I might be a bit tone deaf in that ear too... My point? Loud noises affect your health!!!

In terms of price I agree, one is the Ritz and the other is the intercontinental. However, when it comes to exclusivity, the number of units to be built, they are both the same thing, although only the F80 has the title of successor to the LaFerrari.
Technologically there will certainly be differences between the two models but the question is whether they justify a price difference of almost four times.

    Just my two cents:
On the basis on current announcements, 799 of the F80 will be made (unclear whether that includes the Aperta or not) against 799 SF90XX coupe and 599 SF90XX Spider. So they are not equally exclusive, the SF90XX is made in almost double the numbers. Of course if Ferrari announce additional F80 Apertas on top of the 799 the story is very different
Technologically, once you go through the F80’s development details, from suspension, to turbos, the overall development of the V6 block and the aerodynamics, the car looks like a spaceship next to the SF90. Also the car is a full carbon construction vs the SF90 which is similar to all other Ferrari’s in its aluminium construction.
Finally the performance difference is quite significant. Two seconds a lap in Fiorano is not negligible and 1 second difference in the 0-200 sprint isn’t small either, by my calculation the SF90XX would be 55 meters behind the F80 at the end of that sprint.

Don’t get me wrong; I think the SF90XX is great value next to the F80, or perhaps I should say the F80 looks pricey, especially next to cars like the Valkyrie and T50 which were both cheaper and had much more new tech developed and built into them (and were made in smaller numbers). I guess we’ll have to wait until the first test drives by journalists to draw definitive conclusions and I hope the car makes up for the lack of aural excitement and the high price.

Yes, it really comes alive when you push it and the turbo kick in. Brakes were indeed weak. But it is incomparable when it comes to make you go weak in the knees and laugh out loud after the adrenaline rush you just had bc you know the only safety systems was you.

In terms of built units the F80 is the second least exclusive of the six models that make up this group of Hypercars. We have the 288 GTO: with 272 units, the most exclusive of them all, the F40 with 1311 units, the least exclusive, the F50 with 349 units, the Enzo with 399 units and the LaFerrari with 499 units.
There is no confirmation from Ferrari about a possible future F80 aperta and the number that they released is 799 units to be built of this F80, which is exactly the same number that Ferrari attributed to the SF 90xx Stradale.
