Fiorano numbers are all just marketeering for aesthetics at this point - the lap is too short and the cars too powerful for it to really mean much anymore with road cars on street-legal tires. There's a plateau at ~1:19-20, beyond that the only things that will make a meaningful dent are big aero (XX-style) and racing slicks.

    Yes, I know.
But still ferrari likes to use it as a 'selling tool' I suppose as they themselves keep referring the lap times.

Off-topic, the customers who keep the company alive are those who buy the 296 and 12 C, not the handful who participate in the XX.

    Exactly, and nothing else.
Everything weighs far too much... and too complex to be called a sports car today !

Yes. But at least 100bhp LESS than the F80…and that has a smaller V6

Keep in mind A. The XX only added 30 bhp B. Ferrari often make their next generation base model more powerful than the VS of the predecessor.

Ridiculous. The 296 absolute feels playful and light and the change of direction is the best in the world. It is not very heavy at all compared to the competition. Curb weight of an Huracan with 200 more HP.

Only McLaren builds truly light cars today. People aren’t lining up to buy them. They don’t appreciate. If they did my 765 would be the $800k car it should be given the driving experience and limited production.

Alpine A110 weighs 1100 kg - just because its light desirable cheap non-US and does not appreciate does not mean it is without merit - so yes everything does weigh far too much as previous post

You are a broken record - I and others will drive their cars and be just fine.
Look forward to VS and the owners specs driving impressions - no offense but you don't offer either.

An alpine is not in the same league as a Ferrari or McLaren. It’s a Miata competitor.

And to further the weight issue discussion, the 296 weighs about 100 kg more than a 458, with 260 more hp. When were Ferraris featherweights? That’s never been the merit of a Ferrari and ever talks about the 458 in reverence.

It is precisely the work on this "ultra artificial" steering that allows you to feel the real weight, which nevertheless exists. Talk about it with the engineers. The first to benefit from it in its first development was the F12.

We'll talk about it again in 2030...
The broken record has not been much wrong for the moment, especially when I said that the SF 90 would be unsellable second-hand... 296 in a short time, and massively.

Closer to 150 kg... The last sports car built by Ferrari is arguably the 430 Scuderia. For the rest we agree, they are luxurious GTs...

I weighed my own 458 at 3400 pounds more or less. There’s videos of 296 customers cars weighing less than 3600. Well under.

So last sporty Ferrari by your metrics was created 20 years ago? Pretty crazy. But hey, everyone has their own definition to this stuff.

until the year 2010...After the power to compensate for the increase in weight
A lot of excellent recent cars with a contained weight until this period...
Ask to Newey and Murray if there is no correlation between weight and sports car... and if the F40 weighed 1600 kg, it would certainly not have its status...

Ferrari certainly knows exactly what they are doing, and it is their interests which they are taking care of, not the high paying apologist who’s primary focus is on the prestige element.
The irony in cocoloco’s reply to my posting is there for all to see in his countless admissions, the majority of points serving to prove my various key points.
You would laugh if it weren’t so tragic. However, the consolation is that thankfully there are many Ferrari customers (such as myself) who expect better from a brand with so much history in racing - customers who look forward to change and improvement and believe one day Ferrari will be forced by its competitors to meet the important marks of a true sportscar - need i spell them out? - as they are no longer deemed important for the seagulls who have now flocked to peck, ridicule, and defend the indefensible.

This isn’t directed to you BTW just a general comment.

I would rather have a slightly heavier car with all the current safety gear rather than drive a tin box death trap which offers no safety or protection to the occupants, I am not that big of a hero.
When I hear these complaints I just don’t get it, there are so many alternatives out there, so many older cars which meet this criteria why not buy them?

Ouro debut- not 100s but 1000's with multiple times to choose.
Guessing 5000 plus over the weekend - the party for the Puro had cars running around like a roller coaster all built for one weekend. It was held in the hills of Tuscany where the singer who the Puro was named after lived. Laser shows food drinks a world class even - these are the VIPS who keep the company alive and the experience is rich in history.

Sorry for bringing the thread off topic, but this caught my eye. Could anyone elaborate on who the Purosangue was named after? My understanding, albeit my Italian only going as far as grazie, was that it simply meant Pureblood, or less directly translated Thoroughbred. Very interesting that there's a singer involved in the choice of naming as well!

CEO presenter with piano music told a story about Tuscany area where a famous Italian Opera singer with mountains in the backdrop and lasers were lighting the skies. The singer was somehow tethered to the Puro and that's why they chose that location in the wine country.
Ordered the Puro in Bianco Cervino which reflected the white snows of Italy.
