Sooo I thought I'd have look at cleaning the light brown 'stain' the 911 had when I bought it, under my right thigh with some leather cleaner. I put a small amount of pressure on the 'stain' when it cracked and ultimately went like this, turns out the stain was a burn!.: Image Unavailable, Please Login As the rest of the chair is great I don't want to recover the whole thing, ideas please. The upholsterer can replace the piece if I can find the 2 front centre sections up to the piping. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's almost impossible to replicate the grain, texture and colour of the original leather, unless you re-trim the entire seat and hope for the best. Why not use the covers from a used seat like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363456022003 The damaged area up to the first crease is the only section you'll need to replace. And I'd use a different trimmer that did your 330 BTW. 996 leather is quite poor quality, the hides being somewhat thin, you really need to look after it very carefully. Mine is fed bi-annually, it's held together nicely however that appears to be unusual in a 996 with 100,000 kms or more. (I'm at 103,500 now). Or you could just fit these? https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1412138748/pride-car-seat-covers-progress-pride?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=lgbtq+seat+covers&ref=sr_gallery-1-3&pro=1&sts=1&content_source=d7951095c4619359bf3c48082942bfbc6f3fc2c9%253A1412138748&organic_search_click=1

There is this in New York, the vendor was OK in trying to separate the leather from the seat and send it over but the upholsterer didn't like the second hand idea. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/355914867101?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=553bfcac673f4b159430c64491893b0b&bu=43309177610&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20250116173030&segname=11051
Simon, I bought a seat base from LA Dismantlers in LA. No issue at all, and I bought a LHS side for my car ie their drivers side. In your case, I wouldn't hesitate to buy that. And you get the benefit of it being US passenger side. Hopefully little wear. Just make sure it is the same fit as on a 911. Should be I would have thought.
This system is rubbish, I may as well be on ****in Mars playing a game of backgammon with a one legged cat named Bob .

“Great affordable first 911” at $180k lol, it’s my old car, paid $53k in early 2015, sold for $95k in early 2016. Weirdly they’ve removed the rear spoiler in the meantime https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1987-porsche-911-carrera-manual/OAG-AD-24047456
