Is the 296 Ugly? Looks like a Camaro to me...

Okay, I'm sure people will hate me for posting this but I own a 488 Spider and LOVE how it looks. I think it looks like a beautiful Italian sculpture. I also like the looks of the 458, F8, and SF90 - all beautiful. I know the 296 is a rocket ship with regards to performance, but I think it's ugly - looks like a Camaro or something and I don't think I would ever buy one because of how it looks. I understand it also doesn't sound very good with the V6 hybrid. Does anyone else agree with me?

IMHO the design of 296 is not even remotely close to that of the Camaro. Love the design of the 296. But I suppose it's subjective

I don't see the correlation. IMHO the 296 is the nicest looking of the current offerings, although that's not saying much.

 

Um... Where did you hear that from? The 296 sounds better than the F8 and waaaaay better than the 488. That's a fact, not an opinion. Because I said so.

 

What ?? The only similarity is the yellow color, but I know what you mean. The rear looks like a Corvette, that was my first impression. I owned a 488 GTB and have to say, I liked it very much, but I sold it some time ago. I was recently at the local Ferrari Dealership and when you see them side by side, the 296 is leaner, BUT I found alot of views, where I didn't like the shape of the 488, when you don't look at the car every day (because mine is gone).

Well at the end it is all about personal taste. But we better get used to the new design language from Maranello, because if you see a 812 next to a 12 cilindri, THIS is strange.

Soundwise I totally disagree. From an F8 to 296 the sound makes you smile again. Nothing in comparison to a 458 (speciale), but really good. Having driven the latest Ferraris I would say: If Ferrari would have never told anybody about 6 cylinders, NOBODY would talk about a lack of anything. Drive the SF90 (8 cylinders) and the 296 side by side - a lot of people would take the 296 (concerning driving experience and sound), the SF has the meaner optics.

 

well maybe the 296 sounds better than the F8 but the 488 sounds better than the F8 as well.

You are absolutely right. And from my very personal view I like the sound of the 296 more than of my 488. It is different, hard to explain.

 

You mean the similarities such as: being yellow, 4 tires/wheels and a windshield? Outside of that, there is not a single bit of the car that look similar. In fact not a single panel looks similar.

All subjective when it comes to what individuals think is beautiful vs not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I’ve had most all the modern mid engine models ….308, 360, 458, 488, F8, Pista. I find the 296 mixture of vintage touches/nods, and modern lines fantastic! A mix of old & new. It’s one of the best looking
modern ferraris to date IMO, but that’s MY taste. To each their own

For me personally, the only distinguishing characteristic for anything is color. Everything yellow looks the same. Same with Orange. Green. Etc.

No, 488 sounds better than the F8.

 

from the back it looks similar I think. The 296 doesnt look as aggressive and racy as I think a Ferrari should look.

I love the 296. Drives much better than 488/485. The car is so responsive it’s scary.

No offense, but maybe a visit to the eye dr may be in order? Not sure if you are serious or just trying to stir the pot. Both my car and your picture are red, so sure that’s similar. Other than the color, where do you see similarities? (I guess they both do have the company logo in the middle, so that could be similar)
