F355 Market

tried contacting this seller when it was on another site for 118k euros , the description was vague just listing 355 power output and specs nothing to do with the car itself and decided to move on.

 

you are certainly making a fool out of yourself with all due respect. Buying the seller is one of the most important points of buying a car like this sight unseen. No documents regarding the last services , no way to tell if the car even runs without a video , I think it’s a very reasonable request.

judging by your questions and statements so far seems you are very new to this market, that car is actually a rarity since it has the carbon bucket seats.

 

I refer you to post 14821 - life does exist outside of fchat, and does not just commence until the day someone signs up here.

I take it neither of you have bought cars in an open auction then, when you have no contact what so ever with the owner!

 

Buddy, this isn't that type of auction, so stick to the facts...get over it, finish, i'm a bad guy, and just heckling the seller with no intention of buying since i've never bought an F355 or any car from Europe before...Move on.

Firstly I am not your buddy, and secondly this is an open online forum, I do not notice a moderator badge next to your name, you really are the gift that keeps on giving.

 

The Barrett Jackson GTS sold for $117k Saturday night. I was honestly a little surprised. It was obviously not really the correct venue for a gated F355 GTS, but it had a great time slot for a BJ car. I figured the wonky items would be eclipsed a little by the carbon seats, gated shifter and non airbag wheel. I tried to get some pics of the buttress but the lighting was a little difficult.

With fees it went out the door for - $128700.

 

Seats definitely not original to the car. Those seats deserve to be in a better condition car. Buttress repair looks horrible.

 

Any ideas or estimates for the Schumacher car?

This car is all over the internet. So many posts about it .... but it's a closed auction (so we will never know how much it will go.)

But the persons responsible for getting the word out about this car did a hell of a job. ...

I'm not so impressed by the car (eg we write Schumachers name with a pencil in the owners manual to make it legit ... very unclear what engine is in there ... not the original one for sure ...)

 

The Schumi car does have a nice colour combination, although the white interior is not necessarily the easiest to maintain... . I remember when this car came to auction long time ago, I think I still have the auction booklet somewhere... . Indeed, not original engine but looking at the invoices, it was driven but taken care off... .

The buttress repairs were really bad. My wife spotted them from 10 feet away before I even saw them.

 

What is the story with this car does anyone know? It’s too good to be true and hasn’t sold for a while they’ve even discounted it’s price

Canadian Spec car, hence Canadian spec front and rear bumpers. Pull up a 98 US Spec 355 and you should immediately notice the rear bumpers being different.

 

It’s also highly likely this car, which had a $55k repair bill for rear damage. Car has been discussed here extensively before.

Garage Kept Motors is also located in Grand Rapids, MI and most likely the selling dealer in PCar auction. I believe they purchased this car from Canada for about $80-100k. Did not sell thru Pcar for whatever reason. Most likely a bogus auction with shill bidding. Made an attempt to sell on their Facebook page in 2022 for $140k. No dice.


Now the car appears to be shoved into a low-grade auction house (miles on car has been the same the past 5 years) such as Crissey Auto Auction if even available.

Just know this particular car has a $55k damage repair bill with a “clean title” from Canada. So if anyone calls for this car and the seller tells you the car has a clean title, don’t get too excited .

Might as well post it, so we don’t continually discuss this car every time it pops up for sale from some obscure venue.


My hunch is Garage Kept Motors is stuck with this car with failed attempts to sell over the past few years. Probably thought it was a good idea to hang onto the car for 2-3 years hoping the 355 market forgets about it, so they can unload it to an unsuspecting bloke thru some obscure venue. Unfortunately for them, I don’t forget .

A car like this with a “clean title” at such a low price is going to draw attention, regardless how discreetly they try to move it.

 

I like running against the grain...this could be a good deal for someone. It's a late build '98 (my '98 GTB is halfway through production and it's 400+ cars earlier than this) so it has the upgraded valve guides, headers, and probably cats. The '98-'99 cars are the ones to get -- best to avoid the '95s with all their problems. And it looks like the accident damage is factored into the price. I remember this car and based on the pics always thought it was repaired correctly. Could be a great way to get into a 355 at a discount.

 

Bingo! excellent info here, this car was offered to me in 2021 before it went on Pcar and being it was a Canada car and with a serious repair bill i think i had offered below $80K for it back then...seller insisted he could get double that...

Realistically though, if this car was properly repaired, inspected and tracks straight with a bill of health from a Ferrari body shop and can be bought at this price range it would make a nice inexpensive Toy to have fun in.
