Doug DeMuro @ddemuro gives several reasons, citing FerrariChat posts as evidence, why Ferrari has been changing and not for the better. :) How much do you agree?

Nothing with a high voltage battery for me, thanks. So for that reason, I'm out.

The turning point was firing Luca Di Montezemolo and the IPO. Ferrari lost its legacy connection and became an accessory/lifestyle company with a focus on Asians. Like the Corvette C8, the new cars are monsters, but they are ugly.

    The passion is not there.

It is hard to say quality has gone down. Frankly, it has improved, but all cars are so complicated today. Even Toyota is having problems.

I agree but I am talking about basic quality like paint runs carbon Fiber scratches and for 10 years the same sticky buttons on a 400K car,you won’t find that on a 35K Toyota

Absolutely no question. You sometimes wonder if Ferrari hates its customers because they don't care.

I don't think they hate their customers. They just know there's enough demand that the production will sell out regardless of quality (above a very low minimum). So there's no push for excellence.

Bad paint, 25 years of sticky buttons, people getting the wrong options on bespoke vehicles, engineering issues that are evident but denied (PTU, 430 headers). It all says "we don't care." HATE requires caring.

Ferrari has been playing a dangerous game since.... I was going to say 1985 but really more like 1955.

When sales go bad let me know.

It has been a company people like to hate for a very long time.

I said 85. With the long lines buying the TRs, all the flipping and selling positions is when all these games began. 1st time I am aware of where they stared to be treated as a commodity. Not long after Ferrari learned the cost of not being in the game and pulled up a chair. Ferrari started by telling dealers they could have another TR if they also took a Mondial Coupe. They were playing, just at the wholesale level. It was not long before they learned from some of the worst in the retail side. They learned well.

Reading through many of your responses, I think I may have hit on something with regard to their apparel line! “ Ferrari, Bend over and take it!”

Agree with all the points. The Ferrari cars of today aren't ground breaking in any way that enthusiasts care about, and the pricing premium is out of hand. The most exciting "entry level" exotics the last few years are coming from Lamborghini (Performante, STO, Technica) and McLaren (720S and 750S). And one can include Porsche....but right now it seems more like a cult than anything else.

I'm personally further away from buying my first Ferrari now than anytime in the last 20 years when my income first hit a decent level where I had some disposable cash.

The good thing is that there are 78 years of used Ferraris out there that should meet anyone's combination of drivetrain, transmission type, rarity, and ease of repair.

My only lust now is an 812 to replace my Lusso in the next couple of years....it will likely be my last Ferrari as there is no great desire on the new models and prices have become insane....

The pictures above are very disturbing....

How do you say "Mister Blobby" in Italian? I'm certain that's the welder's name.

There are some places where a little automation would help the brand.

AAA meeting: "Hi. I'm Holden Toyerbutz and (sob) I still want another Ferrari!"

    "Hi Holden!"

Man, a 599 GTB in blue is a heartstopper every time. But there's no way to justify a third horse in the stable. But if they keep dropping, I might get stupid in a few years.

The guys I saw doing the alloy welding at Scaglietti looked like teenagers and based on how they were equipped it was pretty obvious there is no OSHA in Italy.

You think pipeline welders are good. You should see the guys who weld submarine hulls together.
