I agree with Demuro. The reason is I'm around young enthusiasts and they will be the future buyers of Ferrari and they are not that enthused about the new models and neither am I. I'm probably on my way out of supercar world, but for different reasons. I like the 488 and the 812, but nothing else Ferrari has produced. I've driven the 296, the Purosangue, and Roma. Not my jam and frankly, they look mediocre to me. For me, the last good looking Ferrari was the Pista but lets be honest, its just a slight change looks wise from the 458. Ferrari should lean more on its heritage and I think that is where they have lost their way.

For some reason, I got this from the Cali branch of FCA.

Building on amazing past Ferrari experiences, the FCA Southwest Region is hosting a three-day, two-night lifestyle event April 13 - 15 at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Bacara Resort, near Santa Barbara, CA. This will be an all-inclusive event at a first-class resort with an intimate group of fellow Ferrari enthusiasts. The schedule will include a spectacular drive through the mountains and along the California coastline. Most importantly, members will have three possible days of socializing and sharing great food and drink.

I like you guys, but I don't like you that much. Can we just drive?

I think this is a rational view. I think about this a lot. I think Ferrari’s last great mid-engine car was the 458 for reasons most might expect. I can afford any Ferrari I want but I intentionally bought a 360 as my first one because it’s what hung on my wall.

I don’t have a 12Cilindri hanging on my wall today, but no doubt there’s a kid out there with one on his (or her) wall, and someday that’s the car the kid will buy. And he’ll be complaining about all the electric Ferraris not being like “the old days of the 12Cilindri.”

valid point and yet a real anomaly. Is the drama justified? Time will tell

    btw, who’s taking Ferraris lunch?

The problem is Ferrari, and other manufacturers, have decided East-Asia is the future. Take a look at the numbers. What legacy does this market have? Do they care about F1? Do they have posters of Farrah Fawcett and F40s on their walls? With over a billion people, does it matter when you are only selling 15,000 cars a year? The world today is a different place.

I’m sorry how much have 911s changed over the years? Anyone crying and bitching about it?

We’re talking about the best engine and mid engine benchmark platform on the planet for well over a decade. And still I’d argue it’s similar interior, but exterior the changes are subtle but obvious.

Sorry I just don’t get all the haters, especially in this forum.

it is different indeed, and people generally don’t like change. Doesn’t mean it’s always for the worse, nor that Ferrari is alone in the new world.

and again, I’m saying all this while at the same time I question the greatness of the 296, SF90 or even the 12C and I’m definitely against the high prices. I don’t plan to sell any of mine anytime soon. But I’m just as well not convinced about the drama a De Muro brings to the table. Seems very opportunistic and unfounded to me.

The initial MSRP on a F360 was $139,000 in 1999. What is the out-of-the door price on the cheapest new Ferrari?

I don't know who De Muro is. I'm old. The last thing in the world I would listen to is someone trying to tell me what I should like. I know what I like.

A Carrera S price back in 1999 was what, $80k? It’s now at $150k. So? It’s called inflation. Plus Ferrari wants to be way more selective. It’s called exclusivity. Right?

I'm not sure the current TicTok generation cares much for what the Ferrari wine and cheesers think is a dream car to own.

I’ll tell you he is: Only one of the biggest influencers on YouTube with almost 5m subscribers. He makes quite a bit and, even worse, influences quite a bit.

Social media platforms are not that popular among older generations, but they are no question incredibly influential

I don't blame Ferrari for squeezing out every last drop. My problem is the cars are not worth it. I have a 1998 BMW e36 M3. It is almost more fun than the law allows. It is maybe worth $40,000. What Ferrari can you buy for $40,000?

Ok I agree with you on the enjoyment you get from older gen models. They don’t make them the same way, true. But Ferrari doesn’t want to have a $40k model out there. It lives off the exclusivity. And this is precisely what Demuro is emphasizing. They may be getting too selective and targeting the super rich, pissing off people that want to spend $200k-$300k and get an AWESOME car like a 458 back in the day. Today an ‘ok model’ (with all due respect) like the Roma is up there at near $300k and people just don’t want it or go for something else.

Then there’s the 12C at >$100k over the 812, and it’s quite clearly not worth that much more.

So again I’m also questioning and I find these debates interesting. But I don’t think the ‘hate’ is justified (especially in the 2015-2020 lineup) and we still need to let time tell the story.

I watched the video and got a whole lot of nothing from the conversation. So Doug, you got what you wanted.

I found it hilarious one guy says they make too many kinds of cars and states the Roma and Roma spider -- has he never seen a California? Hello...... you guys are supposed to be car reporters, right?

    So folks....

Ferrari of 1980 was not the same as Ferrari 1966
Ferrari of 2001 was not the same as Ferrari as 1980
Ferrari of 2025 is not the same as Ferrari 2001.

Each generation complained about the last being gone. Its no different today.

Net net, the original question was whether Ferrari has lost its cool? To me they’re going through the automobile revolution the same as many others out there. But I don’t think they’ve lost much. They’re evolving with times. Too much drama…
