Basically what I was thinking too. Plus there are what I consider a massive amount of 296's for sale right now. Just looking at F8's and 296's on the Ferrari site for sale at dealers I quickly noticed it seems like 50% more 296 for sale over F8. 296 advertised price is right at most F8 advertised price.

You are a perfect example of an additional type of buyer who should buy second hand, since you presumably do not qualify for an early car. Because SOMEONE has to flip it for you to get it and give you that extra 2 years worth of drivership right?

Yeah good strategy, make your buying decisions for a Ferrari VS based on Fed Funds rates, inflation projections and 7-Year Treasury rates. And don’t forget to factor in CPI and adjustable mortgage rates.

    Or
348 Road track 355 Road track - Stradale - Scuderia - Pista - VS ... off the top of my head, incredibly cool history of rear engine street legal track cars.
As a Dino 16M Speciale XX owner - hope to be VS. There is nothing better than a rear engine Ferrari that was built with DNA from an F1 factory.
The Dino engine was raced in F1 and fast forward the VS will take F80 hyper car hand me downs.
So the bummer of buying a VS - we 296 guys suffer ... oh the misery :)

Am I missing something - what other F1 factory is building street legal rear engine track focus exotics for decades. FWIW Valhalla is using AMG - so to think this is easy / cheap is just not true.

Why is this so shocking? Two more cylinders do not make the F8 the better car.

And ironically, if you care about sound quality … the F8 Dysonuto will literally put you to sleep, while the well named piccolo V12 of the 296 sounds sweet AF

Maybe some ordered a Spider / selling coupe.
Sellers simply can't justify retaining - they do it for personal reasons and that is not limited to a 296 Ferrari.

    I disagree.
If it sounds like a Dyson, it is a barking mad Dyson on steroids that does want to kill you if given the choice.
Yes, it lacks the high pitched V8 NA sound, but that doesn't mnean it sounds terrible; it sounds different.

What’s transitional carbon? The large weave carbon?

It's a somewhat new finish they can apply to carbon fiber so it changes its apparent color as the angle of the viewer changes.

For some it's a smart move to sell before VS version is officially revealed

yes, I stand corrected. But the Market has also changed.

As of this morning, on AutoTrader there are:

    260- 296's Available
    209- F8's Available

and look at the drop in prices, you can get a well spec'ed F8 for under $300K. Thats a huge market move.

we also have to keep in mind that the F8 has a very small build cycle compared to the 296. It's not an Apples to Apples comparison. See this Article for my point.

The biggest reason is because most dealers made Owners buy a GTB before they could order a GTS and, then as you saying, the VS or XX version coming.

Where's your nuance? You are the ultimate Ferrari apologist at this point. We have to keep this stuff objective. 296 is the best sounding mid-engined Ferrari in a decade. Since the 458 they haven't sounded good. Ferrari's shouldn't require an exhaust.

Some Daytona's are full transitional carbon body.
Dealer has samples in showroom - saw a 458 with silver carbon - offering more colors / parts / wheels. 2X2 weave is another option but it's the actual weave vs tinted carbon

Which ones are well specced F8 for under 300k? Are you referring to the 289k and the 290k? Both of those have salvaged titles. Maybe the 299k with 20k miles?

I guess 30 years of dealing with facts and evidence, in my profession, gets in the way a distorted reality.

My F8 was a music machine. A tune and upgraded Exhaust. Man that car was fast and loud.

But as great as the F8 was the 296 is a significant improvement. The F8 is almost 18 years of lineage vs a new car design from the ground up. Yes did that make the F8 a very refined design and over all car, absolutely. But the Assetto Fiorano version of the 296 can smoke my old F8 all day long, imagine when it can be tuned. Just wow. People need to be jumping at these 296 opportunities, it’s considered the greatest Ferrari ever made.
