Thanks Ferrari lol! Sainz's ideas already bring "real momentum" to Williams – Vowles The new Williams driver has been praised by his boss for his work ethic
Man...do I ever wish the best for Sainz. He proved a lot the last couple of seasons and should be in a better car.
Yes, we all admire Carlos, this was difficult for him. I wish he can outscore Lewis a couple times in 2025. At least he will feel better.

Ok so the other day after posting I had a thought. Carlos clearly knows how to wrangle an F1 car around a track. What does this mean for Albon? Will Sainz come in and perform much better or will Albon beat him? What happens if after years of Williams Albon is substantially outperformed?
He will have until the end of 2026 season to close a major gap to Sainz or probably be moved on. They are both out of contract in 2026. The further question is can Sainz find a better seat/stronger team at the end of 25 or 26. A few moving pieces with this, assumes Williams are not much better than they are. I dont see Albon moving forward up the grid either. He is a good driver overall but not that great compared to others with stronger records.
I can imagine a scenario where at the end of his contract in 2026, Carlos Sainz Jr will go back to the Scuderia Hamilton's contract is only for 2 years, I read, so he would have just retired by the time the Spaniard would be free. Don't laugh at my suggestion, I happened before. Remember how Kimi Raikkonen was called back a few years after being sacked ? .
If Bearman has a respectable outing with Haas then he, or possibly some other newcomer, will be the top contender after 2026.
Yes, possibly, but I expect that not all the 2025 newcomers will do good. Most of them (Bearmam, Antonelli, Bortoletto, Hadjar) have done well against peers with similar experience, and on specs cars. Racing against more experienced drivers, with cars that you have to help develop is a different prospect, I think. They cannot all be like Piastri !!
True. Piastri is good, but he has also had the benefit of starting in a good (great?) car. Antonelli will also have the benefit of starting with a Tier 1 team, and will be expected to be close to his more experienced teammate. We saw what Bearman did in his sole outing in a good car. If Bearman out performs the car, I think he will be the occupant of a red car when LH retires.
Bearman had a fast flowing track in Saudi. The track flattered him I think. We shall see his level of endurance with a frustrating type mid pack car and situation. This will be a growth year. Looking at the totality of his results he has not been at the top consistently. 2020 F4 ADAC 7th / Italy 10th. F4 Champion ADAC/Italy 2021. F2 3rd 2022 / F2 2023 6th. Haas like his 'maturity' still thats on 1 race and testing. He needs 2 years and the results you outline above for Ferrari to notice him for a full top race seat. Not sure which of the new rookies has a distinctive consistent winning record. Also the teams now have to consider how much crash damage they can absorb and let the rookie/young driver 'develop'. Mick Schumacher is an example of not so much growth but expensive crashes in the new cost accounting championship known as F1. The sim can only predict so much in terms of performance and does not offer realistic experience with weather and tire variance given Pirelli have a hard time predicting their own lol
It has emerged that Williams are poised for further commercial boost ahead of the new season with the team set to land a new title sponsor. A report by respected business publication SportBusiness has claimed that Williams are close to sealing a deal for multi-million-dollar Australian-based company Atlassian – the firm behind the Jira project management software product – to become the team’s title partner for F1 2025.
Let's look on the bright side. It was just over a decade ago that the last Ferrari driver ended up at Williams, and that led to the best couple of years the team had had in a decade, so hopefully lighting will strike twice with the Ferrari cast offs! I've always liked Carlo, much more so than LeClerc. I think he was toe to toe with Max at Toro Rosso, and just didn't have Horner and Mateschitz wrapped around his fingers as Max did.
