Yeah, outside of the interior, I didn’t see it as “rough”; more like a much better than average 40 year-old car (as opposed to a pampered 40 y/o F-car)…but it’s tough to know exactly what you’re dealing with based solely on photos. I was surprised there wasn’t more discussion about the compression anomalies and no effort by the seller to investigate.
The other thing that surprised me was the fact bidders apparently didn’t value its attributes - a 1st Year US QV GTB with low miles in a rare color - more than its maintenance needs; which are going to be required of every 308 eventually…unless they’re all going in pickle jars from here on out.
So maybe not Deal of the Century, but I’m still in the well-bought camp.

I see Labmans car is on BAT. Surprised it was not talked about on here prior to putting it up. I'm sure there are a couple folks on here looking for a nice 308 GTS QV. Funny I owned the exact same car spec 83, red/black with red piping on the seats. GLWTA

Hi Dave! Long time! I completely forgot to add a link to the sale here. I haven’t been on Fchat much recently. I guess that’s why.
Yes. I decided to sell my baby. It’s been 10 years and I felt it was time. I really don’t drive it as much as I should plus I do need to free up some space in the garage. For anyone interested, here is the link on BaT. No matter where I go, I get a gathering of people around it. I still believe it’s one of the most recognizable, iconic Ferraris ever made. It’s a time capsule and and each time I drive it, I feel like Thomas Magnum :)

Just when I start to think I know everything about a 308 I learn something new. Never knew or heard of there being a light under the e-brake!

I know...I was following this one in particular because I also have an '83 GTS going on the block soon (although it's definitely not a Premio di Platino and Coppa Bella Macchina award winner with 26k miles :p).
There's been quite a spread in GTS QV prices on BAT over the last year, but generally it seems lower-mileage cars (19k - 35k) - not including the rare sub-10k mile cars - are bringing consistently strong money ($90k+), while the higher mileage drivers are selling around $75k. Interestingly, this was only the second '83 GTS to be listed on BAT in the last year.

My 85’ GTS with 33k miles was sold on BaT for $112k a few years ago. I think it’s all about timing on BaT. Cars auctioned before your car, amount of people interested etc. Prices are all over.

You just need a few bidders who want your car. Mine fizzled out with two bidders. I was hoping for another 10-15k but it is what it is. $100k is a bargain for mine but I wanted six figures and I just got it! Seems like the Red/Tan cars fetch more money. Don't know. The buyer is super happy and he's looking forward to receiving it. I had it for 10 year almost to the date it was sold. It was a great car. I'll miss it for sure :(
