Just when the BAT 206 had everybody smiling -- ugh. RM Sothebys in Arizona today saw a brutal Dino price adjustment. Luckily I bought mine at the top of the market lol...

Will, the ones in AZ, are slightly more common than a 206. Could have been a twofer... and change, lots of change :)
Besides you can't drive 2 Dino at once, and besides, US versions. It is perfectly fine I think.
If Mikey wants a 206, Mikey gets.....

Winter is never a good time to sell.
History of Dino sales in January at here has been arizona typically very low prices.

    True.

If you look at BJ's line up, its mainly American stuff. I don't know if I ever saw so many modified Corvettes, modified Camaros, and modified Broncos show up on stage one after another.

    Know your audience.

I just got back from Scottsdale, not there for anything related to cars/auctions/etc.... God Bess kids and their activity’s

I have been waiting for feedback from those onsite. Nothing yet. I wouldn’t say a “Massacre” took place, but time will tell quickly

to be clear the 4.5 M car was the original George Barris designed car from George who was there and alive at the time of the auction - it was the unicorn - 1 of 1

the car this year was a re-creation - it was nice - I was there - I saw it - I went and looked at all the collection of TV / Movie cars that were being sold by the family that inherited them from the man who died - they were nice for the most part - an odd collection but I believe ALL of them were recreations

like the Ghostbusters caddy sold for like 300k or something - and it was NOT in the movie

I on the other hand sold my 59 Vet custom - that was a bloodbath

5 of us built the same exact car / same color - same ****ing color !!!! - metallic gold ?!!!

    we all got crushed

I build a custom for a few years and bring it to BJ in AZ and usually do pretty well

    my car hammered at 250k

BJK - I could write a book in response to your questions lol

I have done better in years passed - I built a 56 Caddy Convertible custom that was really special - hammered at 400k

I knew I could build a special 59 vet - I was originally going Navy Blue with the Oyster leather and coves

but I saw a new Range Rover with this sunset gold metallic paint that I loved and switched to that

I was supposed to sell it at BJ last year and was in the catalog and everything but had to pull it with a week to go because we just weren't done -

but people saw the color - that's my cynical take - but honestly there were 4 other cars there that looked so much like mine - that I couldn't keep them straight

usually you got to that BJ auction and you can say "I love that gold custom classic vet" and people say "me toooooo"

this year they were like "which one?"

    ruh ro

we all got beat up - the guy who built the famous 800k Kevin hart car (a mint green custom 59 vet) built a 59 vet - gold

he hammered at 480 - and we all had him pegged at 650k

all best rise together but all boats sink together too

I would have bet my life that 350k was in the bag for me - with a shot at 550

I was right after the 56 Gullwing that brought 1.3? (which honestly hurt those collectors - wrong auction for that car)

but still I was in a run of cars on super Saturday that were clocking 400 plus etc - I was a bit of a let down

oh well - you win some - lose some

my accountant will be happy - I can show a small loss on the build if I choose to

altho I am building a 70 Chevelle convertible custom that I actually have a thread about on here - I should update it

I want to take that to BJ in January next year and may just put my costs all against that etc - just book keeping etc

as for the steering wheel - you're not wrong - it's a custom vendor that builds them and their lag time is heavy - the black was a safe play timing wise because I took too long to focus on it

I could have had my custom interior guy - who is an artist of the highest order - rewrap it - but I let it go

we had a lot of things to contend with

also - every other car this year was a custom vet - it was way too much

not BJ's fault - it's what us custom builders did - they turned some people away

also all of BJ is no reserve - that's what makes that auction nuts - every thing is selling

3 minutes on the block - good luck lol

Would be great to see you start a thread when you start a build and follow it all the way through to auction. I think it would be very interesting.
