So the 550/575M was called the modern day Daytona when it was new, now that it’s over 1/4 century old and Ferrari has a new Daytona what is it? Daytona V2? The old Modern day Daytona? Y2K Daytona?

Shifting the F1 ? Lift the accelerator on light acceleration but leave it floored when running from the law? ;)

    It’s a Maranello :)

Ferrari have gone down this path of using old names to rename new models as part of a sales pitch which just doesn’t work and in my opinion is an insult to the original model.

New Daytona has as much in common with old one as the Maserati ghibli with the original

I agree the 550 borrows more heavily from the 275GTB then the Daytona but even that is a bit of mashing square peg into a round hole.

The 90s car that borrowed most heavily from the Daytona (and even more so the 365 GTC/4) was the 456GT, IMHO.

That said, neither the 550 or 456 are retro redux / revivals ala the 2000s era thunderbird, mustang, Ford GT, etc. More they have select design elements that were inspired at best.
