WOULD YOU RATHER….

Hypothetically, if you possessed a Roma, and 296 GTB and you had an opportunity at a great deal on trading the 296 for a beautifully spec’d, well sorted/maintained F12…..would you make that move?

 

Unless I'm demanding a V12 and no hybrid in my small fleet (if you can call it that), I don's see why I'd go for the F12 and have two front-engined touring Ferrari cars that provide similar-enough of an experience.

 

No. I would trade the Roma for the F12 and keep the 296. I briefly had them together and they are such drastically different experiences that there is an argument to have them both. Once you have an F12 the Roma will be an afterthought.

But you didn't have a Roma Spider
Never loved the F12 - love the Roma. Back Seat storage easy to get in n out and it's a quick lil beast

 

Just for four days as a loaner! spider is much better than the coupe I agree.

Very easy to use and live with but at $365k delivered I could not justify it over a 911 or even Aston. Could probably get 3 DB11 CPO near that.

 

I would keep the 296 personally and either get rid of the Roma or pass on an F12. I love the F12 and if you want something a little more raw then ditch the Roma, but the 296 is just such a good car, smallish and easy to throw around. Do that in an F12 and you will end up in a bad place.

That was my thought, it saved the money of doing an opaco or lucido paint with the same finish. I loved how it looked in photos because the finish smooths out all of the reflections to show the shape of the car.

 

What is a lucido paint? I've seen that appended to paint color names but didn't know it was a specific finish. How does it differ from the "standard" paint finish?

 

I think it's more a term they use on the gloss pearl paints. I thought I saw some that were satin level and still called 'lucido' but that might have been a wrap on top. Opaco is matte.

 

It means shiny or glossy , the opposite of opaco

 

There is only one correct answer: keep them both and get the F12!

If that's not an option, I tend to agree with @ryalex. If you have to pick two modern Ferraris, it's hard to argue against pairing a front-engined V12 with a mid-engined sports car. And within those categories, it's very hard to beat the F12 and 296.

The Roma is awesome too and would be a great addition to that pair. But it would be the first I would cut of the three. Unless you have a sentimental attachment to it. Or really need those back seats.
