We had local car manufacturing , ok. However imports still happened and were tariffed. People still bought the Tariffed cars because the local manufacture did not give the buyer what he wanted.

    I never bought a locally made car. Why ? I didn't want a 4 door family car. I wanted a sports 2 door car.

    I bought a RX7 at 22k when a locally made Holden was only 10 k.

Even with Tariffs I am saying people will buy what they want.

You seem to be jumping on each side of the argument of tariffs.

Just now. The S&P 500 falls sharply as President Trump says 25% tariffs on the European Union are coming.

I looked at my offending post where I said tariffs are bad idea. I guess that was political.

Does this mean the only acceptable answers to the OP's thread is yes or no? If so, my answer is no. I have a Porsche on order with a May delivery. If Porsche says I need to cough up an additional $35,000, the answer is no.

The answer may be around the corner.

We'll be announcing it very soon," he told reporters at an appearance with members of his cabinet. "It'll be 25% generally speaking and that will be on cars and all other things

IMO Ferrari will be insulated from any tariffs. New Ferrari buyers aren’t exactly scraping together couch change to make payments. Most people buying new from Ferrari dealerships are doing it for exclusivity and conspicuous consumption. A high tariff only adds to that allure.

Porsche, bmw and the others, that’s a different story. Imagine paying 130k for an emira.

Ummmmm, you may want to scroll up and see the poll results here on Ferrarichat and also read the four pages of comments. Also if you’ve read these forums for years allot of discussion is always about price and depreciation. Not every buyer is a billionaire. Most aren’t. Also most wealthy people don’t just flagrantly burn their money - it’s how they got wealthy. Right now about 3% of those who voted say they would definitely keep their orders. 80% will decline. The rest are unsure.

Ferrari won’t be insulated. Nobody is safe.

Yes I stand corrected. I forgot how accurate polls are

Plenty of places with even higher tariffs. From what I remember Hong Kong has an essentially 100% tariff. Lots of Ferraris there

Your right to ignore the polls at your peril. Read the thread right here of actual Ferrari customers with cars on order. I wish it wasn’t the case. I have a large position in Ferrari stock since their IPO and that position will take a hit if tariffs are implemented for any substantial period.

Your statement is uncoordinated. April 2 is a long time from now...it certainly is not today not to mention the latest proclamations are now saying 'soon' or 'very soon' with April 2 bandied about but there is no formal declaration. And new reciprocal tariff language is being mentioned, meaning matching current tariffs...

In other words, the game is still in play and Ferrari only imports somewhere around 200-300 cars per month to USA and could easily warehouse them in Europe for a period of time (they already do that now to 'time' sales for quarterly reports) in case the tariffs actually occur and then are rescinded.

Fair enough , lets see if April 4 is in play.

Stats show 5,000 Ferraris to North America.

Remember these are not standard cars. 99.9 % are customised so I cant agree that they would warehouse them.

Maybe someone can chime in , what it cost them when they cancelled their Ferrari after already giving the second deposit.

By 'Warehouse', they will do that if the outlook for a short-term tariff increase is expected, not to never deliver, just delayed as tariff is due on import not at time of customer sale.

Interesting. Each dealership gets maybe 6 cars a month. I don't care how much profit you make per car, six sales a month does not make a profitable business model.

This is why such an emphasis is on you trading your ferrari in for another one. The used business and service are a big component of annual profits. Also each car has so much margin in it the dealers don't require as much volume of new vehicles. Think of how much a dealer makes especially on a limited edtion vehicle and then how much more when those come back and get resold.

Next consider all the buyers who want the limited edition cars. They will have to buy every single new Ferrari, well optioned, and store it so the dealer can just resell it with delivery miles the moment the 6 month or 1 year no sale agreement allows.

    Ferrari dealers are indeed profitable.

Then why are there no more stand-a-alone dealers? Every dealership is part of a chain of non-Ferrari dealerships.

There are no more stand alone dealers because the chains bought them. Also I have not verified what you claimed that there aren't any standalone Ferrari dealers so that could be false. A chain won't buy them to lose money as that would be a weird business model, woudn't it?

Dealer groups buy different brands as there is synergy and economies of scale to further increase profitability. If a guy comes in and trades his 911 or 750S for an SF90 it is quite advantageous to have a Porsche or Mclaren dealership where you can then push the over to in order to service it and then retail the car out certified. That's one example. Another is all the synergies in running many dealerships versus just one. With one dealer you need people to handle all the administrative work. With a dozen brands you can gain cost efficiency with administration handling all the brands. That said, this is a bit off the original topic but I hope it answered your questions

could ferrari not manufacturer in US seeing that is what they are essentially trying to be forced into doing?
the used car market will go absolutely wild when this goes through, can american manufacturers really supply the entire country themselves?
